Situated on a smallholding with ducks and chickens roaming freely in the grounds you can really feel like you have escaped to paradise at this Lakeland hideaway. The sight of red squirrels feeding in the garden is a common one from the heart of this peaceful cottage. You can sit in the conservatory and watch them take monkey nuts from the squirrel feeders right outside your window. At night time the stars shine brightly on the backdrop of the dark skies thanks to there being no light pollution that you typically get in more commercialised areas.\nIf you want to escape to the country this really has it all from the peaceful trickling beck that runs along the side of the garden to the acres of woodland and riverside walks that you can explore to your hearts content. In effect you have your own private estate on which to build your own adventure. Just a few miles away you can access Buttermere Valley home to Loweswater Crummock Water and Buttermere itself which is famous for some of the most iconic imagery of the Lakes. For more challenging adventures you have any number of iconic fells in the vicinity including Red Pike High Stile and Haystacks. If you’re missing town-life don’t worry you’re only 10 miles from the popular seaside town of Whitehaven with harbour supermarkets bars restaurants and high street shopping. Once you have experienced Lake District living at its best the last thing you’ll want to do is return to the hustle and bustle of today’s busy life. Beck Cottage is adjacent to the coast to coast path for walking and cycle routes and fishing and riding are just 2 miles away and Loweswater is 6 miles away. Beach 12 miles. Shop pub and restaurant 2 miles. " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/189/840/189384.jpg 986

We had a lovely week in the cottage, beautiful location and really friendly hosts who made us feel very welcome.

A delightful, comfy, cosy cottage/house. Very well equipped, warm to come back to after cold days out, it felt like home from home. It's remote, well away from much in the way of amenities, unless you count a large lake within walking distance, lakeland fells and red squirrels to watch out for. They love hazelnuts, though how they KNOW you've put some out on the bird feeder is beyond me. Lots of birdlife, too. Very helpful, pleasant owners on site. All in all, a lovely holiday.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday. If you want lots of amenities then Ennerdale isn't the place to go. For us it's seclusion is exactly what we were after. The Cottage was comfy and well equipped. It isn't huge but perfect for us.

Sue and Hugh are absolutely wonderful people- friendly and helpful. Perfect cosy cottage if you want to get away from it all- a very peaceful location with just the noise of the beck and wildlife. Fully equipped cottage with everything you could need. Area has everything you would expect from the Lake District without the crowds. We hope to return.

A comfortable cottage in an idyllic setting. The owners are friendly & helpful. We had a bottle of wine in the fridge on arrival and then fresh eggs from the resident ducks. Ideal location fo walking in the ennerdale valley.

    out of 10

Only 2 of us stayed here, (not 4 as originally planned), so it was ample for our needs. The owners were very friendly and helpful, but we had our privacy too as the cottage is tucked away behind some barns. Very peaceful.

A well equipt, warm, clean and comfortable cottage in a great location. It was wonderful to see so many birds on the feeders in the garden and inparticular the red squirels right out side the window. Ideally placed to visit / walk around Ennerdale, Buttermere, Wastwater and the west coast plus if your fit enough there are numerous high peaks within easy reach. Owners were very friendly, they went out of there way to ensure the cottage had everything we needed All helped by a complete week without a spot of rain
