The nearby market town of Ross-on-Wye has many historic buildings and public cliff-top gardens offering excellent views of the River Wye and Hereford is well worth a visit with its cathedral which contains the famous Mappa Mundi and Chained Library museums art galleries and bustling mid-week market.\nAlso enjoy our national heritage in Monmouth a Tudor border town associated with Henry V. Or visit Hay-on-Wye famous for its books and festivals. Close by is Kilpeck Church perhaps the best preserved Norman church in the country. Symonds Yat offers everything from gentle rambles to canoeing within its magnificent natural setting or join the network of pathways comprising the Wye Valley walk.     We were a group from our church spending time away. It is our third visit so it shows how much we like the place. It is spacious with plenty of sleeping space. The kitchen is superbly kitted out and the lay-out downstairs allows people to be private or for all to gather together comfortably. The owners are incredibly helpful. They came out immediately to sort out the central heating when it did not come on - and were remarkably polite when it turned out to be entirely our fault.

    Really enjoyed our week at Bellevue. Great base for our family, lots of space and beautiful garden to enjoy the great weather we had. Owners were very welcoming and helpful. Would recommend.

    Well equipped house BUT it's on the busy main road. You can hear the traffic in the garden and from front rooms. It is the owners family home so quite a lot of precious things around and very busy decoration wise. Made us a bit on edge. Owners in house on grounds so easy to contact them. We received a rather rude letter from them before going which explained what we must not do. No thank you for booking our home etc. A shame because we had a very nice welcome when we arrived. Had all amenities we wanted. Quite clean but a few surfaces and cupboards which hadn't been properly cleaned. Very comfy beds. Wifi bit slow and hit and miss but as you'd expect in countryside. Good location wise. Ten minutes from Symonds Yat (lovely) and twenty to Hereford (not so lovely!) and twenty to Monmouth (lovely). Local pub did nice pub grub.

    Bellevue is a lovely house with an especially large and pretty garden, but it is very close to the A49 - a fast trunk road with lorries and cars rattling loudly past throughout the day which was a real shame. The house had most of the amenities and comforts we've come to expect from staying in cottages across the UK, but there are so many written rules, and exhortations to be careful, all over the house that we felt worried rather than welcome. Nevertheless, the layout and size of the property makes it excellent for large groups and it is worth noting that there is an superb farm shop just along the road that sells fresh cakes, bread, pastries, milk, cheese, fruit, veg, simple groceries and has an excellent butcher - wish we'd known before doing an on-line supermarket shop!
