We had a fantastic time using this lodge as a base. The only thing I didn’t score 10/10 was for local amenities but that is the point of the lodge, it’s in the middle of nowhere in an idyllic setting but there’s a local shop about 10 mins drive in Spean Bridge and a 25 min drive to Fort William. The lodge itself has stunning views and is surrounded by wildlife. Everything we needed for self catering was provided and a wide variety of board games were available to keep the kids entertained. There was also WiFi available which we were able to use a streaming device from.

The location was in the stunning Glen Roy with mountains all around. When the clouds descended they looked moody and magnificent sitting on top of the mountains. When the sun came out it looked beautiful. We had privacy but also had the comfort of having the owner not far away. The owner was a lovely Scottish lady who was very helpful and easy going. The chalet was beautifully located with panoramic views; very well equipped including all the little things that are essential for a comfortable holiday. It was so very peaceful and relaxing. There was a Gondola ride to the top of a mountain about 15 minutes drive away; Ben Nevis near Fort William was about 30 minutes drive away. Glenfinnan about 40 minutes away. A small Spar shop a few miles away.

The only reason to give a "1" for local amenities is because there are none, not because they are poor. The location is about 5 minutes drive up a track, which is about 5 minutes drive east from Spean Bridge - it provides an uninterrupted view of the north face of the Nevis range. The cabin is very clean and very well looked after - the owners are on the croft next door and are fabulous. There is plenty of space to sit/eat inside and on the deck. We had barbecues and cooked full meals on the electric hob/oven - plenty of kitchen items too so no need to bring anything. Best/local food shop is in Fort William, about 20 minutes away by car - there is nothing much in Spean Bridge itself. We had a week wioth 2 girls aged 10/12 and had a wonderful time walking etc - the cabin is very comfortable in a great location. Highly recommended

The glen the lodge was in was an added bonus, it was well located for everything we wanted to do, if we returned we would try a different time of year.

We had a great holiday in a lovely part of Scotland. The chalet was well kitted out and the views from the windows were stunning. Sitting out on the verandah and listening to the wild birds on the mornings when it was sunny was a treat. We found that we could have lots of days out within a reasonable distance. We drove to Loch Ness and Inverness, took the ferry from Mallaig to the Isle of Skye, climbed hills, took the Gondola near Fort William up to the restaurant and visited lots of sites of Interest. Would love to come back.

A real home from home, comfortable retreat to comeback after a day out in the highlands. The setting was perfect, quiet and remote just what we were looking for. If you are looking to get away from it all, with many great walks on activities nearby, this would suit you as much as it did us. Looking forward to going back in the future.
