We booked this specifically as it was advertised as dog friendly. On arrival told that dogs not allowed upstairs or on furniture. This should be on the property details upfront I feel. Gill the owner also advised us when we came back from 2 hours trip having left our whippet in the cottage for that time that she had barked so shouldn’t be left. My whippet doesn’t have separation anxiety so was probably replying to the owners black lab who barks a lot.. At over £500 for 3 nights this ‘dog friendly’ cottage did not give us the home from home we had expected and so was a disappointment. The cottage itself was very nice and there are gorgeous walks in the area. If you do book then bring your own toiletries (including hand soap/toilet roll etc) as none provided.

We’ve just had a fantastic week staying in Bramble Cottage! Lovely field for the dog to charge about in off-lead & beautiful walks right on the doorstep. Local pub in Newland, within walking distance serves fantastic food & is dog-friendly. Plenty of interesting places to visit within easy driving distance! We would love to go back again!

Overall location was good. Private and on the edge of the Forest of Dean, which was amazing. Very we’ll decorated. Do need to drive, even at night for meals out. The local pub was the best food in the area.

Nice conversion but one clearly fitted/furnished to a minimum budget. Ground floor open plan, split between kitchen/dining area and lounge area. Kitchen appliances included fridge (had no freezer facility, however could use shared freezer across yard); washing m/c; oven with hob, extractor fan; microwave. A vacuum would have been welcome, even a sweeping brush, as normally we would clean each day, especially having two dogs. Likewise, was surprised that no iron had been provided. Lounge, which had FreeSat tv, opened to enclosed private lawn. Upstairs were two reasonably sized bedrooms, and a large bathroom which contained both bath and shower unit. Internet was available, albeit slow, via unsecured Stowfield network, although BT customers could often get a more reliable connection using owners BT-Fon facility. Overall the attractiveness of the cottage was spoilt somewhat by the number of items requiring maintenance although accept this was the end of what probably had been a busy season. The location was ideal, good dog walking areas on the doorstep, and much to see both locally and also in the Brecon Beacons. Owners, who lived in adjacent property, very helpful. In summary, despite cottage shortcomings, an enjoyable week was spent in an attractive part of the country.
