The picturesque coastal village of Bamburgh dominated by its majestic fortress and wide expanse of golden sandy sweeping beach is a mere 6 miles east. The friendly market town of Wooler nestled at the foot of the Cheviot Hills is 10 miles west - a popular destination for those who enjoy cycling hang-gliding golf horse-riding and walking with the challenging route of the St Cuthbert’s Way running close by. A beautiful cottage set in a very picturesque location, which I knew about as I had stayed with friends before on Blue Bell Farm. The cottage is bigger and much cosier than I had anticipated We were warmly welcomed by the site manager who already put the heating on for us and it was toast warm, which was appreciated after a 6 hour journey. I would definitely stay there again when I visit my friends, however, there are other cottages there that would be good to stay in too. Bamburgh castle, Chillingham Castle, Holy Island and Berwick, all good places to visit that are nearby.

nice little cottage set amidst other cottages in a farm like setting...the large number of wild birds[ swans, guinea fowl, ducks and turkey might not be to everyones liking].Good co op near plus really good chippy and three pubs/ hotels.

Great location and local amenities, very convenient yet out of the way.

Unfortunately the cottage was not as clean as we would have expected, lots of dog hair on carpets and rugs, sand in shower and pots and pans needed a clean before use. However, we didn't let this spoil our enjoyment of the area. The setting itself was ideal, being very quiet with lots of local amenities. Northumberland is a beautiful area, unspoilt and when we were there very quiet. I would stay at Bluebell Farm again and would hope to find it cleaner.

My little Yorkshire Terrier and I spent a memorable 5 days based at Cheviot Cottage at the beginning of June. The cottage was in a wonderful country setting and within walking distance to Belford shops and pubs. The Black Swan is particularly dog friendly! Cheviot cottage and several other cottages form part of Bluebell farm and a small caravan site with lots of birds including turkey, geese , goslings and rabbits running free! At first they were a little challenging for my terrier to investigate a little too closely but he was kept on a sturdy harness/ lead and grew to love the site as much as I did. Cheviot cottage is managed well and the owners were helpful and friendly and the setting makes a wonderful base from which to visit all the stunning local beaches including Bamburgh, Beadnell and Budle Bay. Holy Island is not far by car as is the lovely town of Berwick.
