Parts of the original cottage dates back to the 17th or 18th century and it was historically owned by the village church. Church Cottage has been owned by the family since 1950 by the current owners’ grandmother. She unexpectedly bought it at auction as the beautiful spot had fond memories for her as she and her husband had courted at the boathouse next door. Today it is owned by two brothers who have very fond memories of staying at their grandmother’s house and they have fully refurbished the cottage to a very high standard whilst retaining much of its original character. They have thought of everything to provide guests with a warm welcome and a wonderful and memorable stay. \n\nThe cottage is the perfect place to get together with friends and family to enjoy time together in a peaceful and beautiful setting. A fair amount of the downstairs is partially or fully accessible to those with limited mobility or those using smaller wheelchairs. The master bedroom is located on the first floor with a bathroom at the foot of the stairs. The other two bedrooms are located on the ground floor along with a wet room garden room games room a very well-equipped kitchen and an open plan living and dining room boasting an open fire for those colder evenings. \n\nChurch Cottage is conveniently located in the historic village of Denford in Northamptonshire and is easily accessible to many places. The area enjoys excellent access to walking and cycling routes as well as fishing sailing and canoeing sightseeing and children’s activities. The small market town of Thrapston is just over a mile away where you will find a selection of cafés restaurants takeaways a post office banks shops hair and beauty salons and pubs as well as the Nene Leisure Centre with swimming pool gym crèche and saunasteam rooms. Fun for all the family can be found at Wickstead Park just under 10 miles away which is a charming family theme park dating back to the 1920’s. Northamptonshire boasts many historic and stately homes including Althorpe Princess Diana’s ancestral home Castle Ashby Sulgrave Manor Rockingham Castle and Lyvedon near Oundle. Silverstone Racetrack where the British Grand Prix is held is 35 miles away and the historic university cities of Oxford and Cambridge are easily accessible. Shop 1 mile pub and restaurant 250 yards. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/144/840/1449572.jpg UKC3303

Fantastic relaxing week in the beautiful cottage. Perfect location and great place to unwind and relax. Gorgeous open fire and lovely garden, we will be back!

Wonderful place, fishing a little disappointing, but maybe thats down to our ability. Did suggest that as all three of us were fishermen that the foliage either side of garden should be cut down to provide more space to build up another swim. We will be returning next year.

We have been in holiday cottages since the beginning of April after selling our house and looking for a new one. We originally booked Church Cottage for one week but extended our stay for a further week as the cottage was so relaxing. The view from the garden is stunning. Watching people in boats, canoeing, watching the cows was just so relaxing. The cottage was absolutely spotless, the cleanest we have stayed in and the housekeeper was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. We had family visit for a couple of days and everyone had a fantastic time, boating on the river and just generally sitting relaxing in the lovely garden. We do not want to leave! We would have extended our stay further but unfortunately the owner was coming to stay. We would definitely recommend the cottage and will definitely stay again.

Excellent cottage really well equipped with everything you would need.Lovely and quiet with lovely garden and river with fishing for Roach,Dace,Pike,Bream,Chub and Perch.Only a pub which does not do food and garage near at hand and about a mile drive to Thrapston for shops, pubs, restaurants.Only problem we had was with main tv which played up but these things happen and Jamie the owner did come and try to fix the problem but with only partial success.New set was going to be supplied after we left.

Church Cottage is absolutely stunning. It is one of the best holiday cottages that I have ever stayed in. Everything you could wish for and more. The owners have thought of everything. We had the most magical week. One that I/we will be talking about for a long time to come. I will miss the most amazing view from the back garden overlooking the River Nene, watching the narrow boats and canoes. The wildlife is fantastic too. Lots of ducks, Swans, buzzards and even saw a Heron. Plus there was a herd of cows which would stroll by everyday too. A great location for visiting the surrounding attractions, such as Bletchley Park, Althorp, Lyvedon and many more besides. Highly recommended a stay at Church Cottage. We are all missing it already and only been home a day.
