This beautiful Grade II listed gate house is part of the 350-acre estate of Cilwendeg where the owners also live. The owners whose family have been on the estate for over a 100 years have so carefully renovated the gate house to turn it into wonderful holiday accommodation set in a large garden with a private hot tub. All on the ground floor there is a large living room with wood burner leading through to a lovely kitchendining room with a huge feature inglenook fireplace. There is a bathroom with a shower over bath a bedroom with a kingsize bed and a further bedroom with twin beds on the first floor.\nGoing back to the late 18th century an enormously wealthy lighthouse builder built the Cilwendeg estate which includes a huge mansion house now privately owned and he also restored the long neglected medieval chapel. His nephew inherited the estate and built the most remarkable garden building in Wales The Shell House in his uncle’s honour. You will be amazed by this extraordinary Gothic sight in a woodland retreat the walls are a profusion of seashells and coloured glass fragments The Shell House and chapel are open to visitors on a Thursday from April to September. There are footpaths through the estate which still has a working farm and at the end of a lovely walk they will bring you out at the nearby pub in Newchapel – perfect\nThe name of the village of Boncath where you will find the village shop comes from the Welsh name for buzzard and you will see plenty around along with red kites and lots of other wildlife. But you also have so much more on your doorstep here and you won’t be short of things to see and do if you can drag yourself away from beautiful Cilwendeg Lodge. The wonderful Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coastline is less than 10 miles away and once here you have a choice of epic beaches and shores to go and explore along with hundreds of miles of the famous outstanding coastal path. 2018 is the Year of the Sea in Wales so it is fitting to discover so many of the wonderful coastal towns and villages in the region. Visit nearby Cilgerran Castle and also Cardigan Castle and enjoy the many restaurants and cafés the town has including a pizza tipi in the summer Outdoor pursuits such as golf pony trekking and fly fishing are all available. Beach 10 miles. Shop ½ mile pub serving food 1¼ miles. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/145/840/1454186.jpg UKC3346

Excellent cottage cosy and clean.village shop 1/2ml away. Hot tub was lovely, just a little noise from tractors bringing in harvest but that is to be expected in 1st week of September.

Cilwendeg Lodge was perfect for our summer break, the property have everything we could possibly need: including a fantastic welcome basket and fresh flowers, our hosts were at hand if we needed them and the hot tub in the private garden was a big hit with everyone. Many thanks for everything

This was an excellent property - well-equipped and recently refurbished - within a short drive of some beautiful spots (Newport; Cwm-yr-eglwys; Many to name but 3). The owners were lovely and couldn't have been more helpful. Thoroughly recommended!

Such a beautifully decorated cottage, feels very homely and relaxing. Easy to recharge the batteries here. The surroundings are gorgeous and a large town and attractions are in easy reach. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be booking again in the future.

Cosy Lodge, log fire wonderful and enjoyed the hot tub. Unfortunately the smell from the septic tank eminated throughout the property and none of the windows opened in the lodge to alleviate the problem.

We had such a lovely break at cilwendeg lodge, our aim was to do lots of relaxing but we actually ended up doing quite a bit with our days, we visited cenarth falls and had food in the nags head which was so nice. The cottage itself is so nicely decorated and our son especially enjoyed the hot tub, which was excellently looked after by the hosts. I especially liked the welcome basket which had lovely Welsh cakes and tea and coffee, and I thought that the flowers were a really lovely touch. There is so much more I could go on and on but it is definitely worth going to check it out for yourself. X thanks :)

We stayed here for a long weekend for our anniversary. If you are looking for a cosy but stylish bolt hole, this is for you. The log fire, 6 person hot tub and peaceful setting were perfect. We took a walk across the countryside to the local pub and drove the short distance to St Dogmaels for Sunday lunch. Couldn't have asked for more and the owners were extremely helpful!
