This single-storey cottage lies within the grounds of the owner’s 400-year-old farmhouse on a working 9-acre small holding with six cattle and some pigs not far from the Wealden market town of Heathfield. Walks radiate from the doorstep or bring your bikes which can be stored in a barn and cycle the Cuckoo Trail which is 14 miles of surfaced pathway meandering through the Sussex countryside to Eastbourne Park. Whilst exploring the locality look out for the follies including Sugar Loaf and the pyramid tomb in Brightling churchyard built by the local eccentric squire of Brightling ’Mad Jack’ Fuller in the 19th century who also contributed to the original Belle Toute lighthouse on the cliffs at Beachy Head. Visit Batemans which was Rudyard Kiplings family home and Pashley Manor Gardens in Ticehurst don’t miss the 14000 bulb tulip display in the spring See Battle Abbey in the heart of 1066 country and visit the site of one of the most famous battles in English history. Eastbourne on the sunshine coast is about half an hours drive and Brighton around an hour. There are unspoilt beaches at Pevensey and Bexhill and good train connections to London from Robertsbridge or Polegate for further sightseeing opportunities. Beach 12 miles. Shop 1½ miles pub and restaurant ¾ mile. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/105/840/10597739.jpg UKC3458

We enjoyed our stay from start to finish. Bob our host was a very welcoming man and did everything he could to make us feel comfortable and even helped us greatly when we got a puncture in our car tyre. We would recommend this cottage highly.

Beautifully appointed, spacious, warm cottage with very welcoming owner. Cows and hens on site. Good local shops in Heathfield and Battle and some villages have a shop and cafe. Lots of pubs. Small roads good for cycling but hills steep. Walks nearby and on South Downs. Easy to get to London from Robertsbridge station (parking available there). Lots to do and see but National Trust properties and Herstmanceoux castle shut from 28/10/18 (our half term from 27/10/18-3/11/18). Battle Abbey and battlefield (English Heritage) and Lewes Abbey open.

Cornbrash Farm Cottage is a recent conversion and has been completed to the highest quality. We were very impressed by the facilities, the quality and tastefulness of the decoration and equipment. The owner was warm and welcoming. We definitely got the impression that nothing was too much trouble and we had been left eggs, milk, bread and biscuits. There were fresh flowers in a vase. We spent a very pleasant week in our holiday cottage. We enjoyed the quiet location and the comfortable environment. The location is convenient for exploring the local area though everything is a drive away.

The main problem for us were the position of the cottage and the lack of comfort with the beds. There were no rural views from the windows and the large patio doors only looked out onto the owner's farmhouse so we had to keep the curtains drawn for privacy. All the beds were far too firm for our liking which led to aches and pains so couldn't get a decent night's sleep. On the plus side there was a good 40inch TV and the place was clean and decently furnished with a newly fitted modern kitchen and bathroom. The patio area at the back provided a secluded seating area. There were a few things missing which included no radio/CD player and no clingfilm, foil , refuse sacks etc. The owners were next door but were not intrusive.

Lovely cottage with wonderful owner who couldn't do enough for us. Sussex is a beautiful county and the cottage makes the ideal base.
