Enjoy a coastal break in this delightful traditional end terraced cottage in the village of Auchmithie. Packed with history this charming property was formerly two cottages which have been in the family for over 100 years. It has been lovingly renovated to a good standard and makes an excellent base for exploring this wonderful coastline of sandy beaches and rugged coves. For dogs, the owner provides pet beds and bowls. The area is steeped in fishing history and the first Arbroath Smokie was said to have been produced in Auchmithie and has now become a speciality of the area. These delicacies can be purchased in the excellent fish shops in the harbour area of Arbroath, just a couple of miles away. The pebbly bay below Auchmithie is marked at one end with sheer sandstone cliffs punctuated by caves, making it popular with smugglers in past times. Arbroath is within easy reach with plenty of shops and eateries and there is much to do for the visitor here and in the surrounding area; take a boat trip round the Bell Rock Lighthouse, visit Arbroath Abbey or enjoy the magnificent beaches at Lunan Bay and Montrose. There’s also plenty of wildlife to see from the magnificent sights of thousands of pink footed geese at the Montrose Basin to dolphins, porpoises and ospreys. Inland, the renowned Angus Glens are superb for walkers. For more cosmopolitan days out, the city of Dundee is within a short drive where you will find plenty of restaurants, cafés, pubs and shops and worth a visit is the V & A Museum of Design. Beach 300 yards. Shop and pub 3 miles, restaurant 300 yards.

We found the cottage well above our expectations, the owner was very welcoming and had left a welcome pack which included bread, wine and milk etc. Wifi was available which is needed as we were unable to get a phone signal. Local shopping was in Arbroath about 3 miles away, there is a choice of supermarkets and local shops. We really enjoyed our time at creel cottage and would use this again in the future. Excellant.

We spent four nights in Creel Cottage and found it to be very comfortable and well equipped. There was a very generous welcome pack. One downside was the light well in the bedroom ceiling which flooded the room with light as soon as the sun came up which made it difficult to sleep.

Loved our week at Creel Cottage, The cottage was clean and very well equipped a proper home from home. We stayed an extra night as we enjoyed the peace and quiet so much. The welcome pack was lovely and very much appreciated. Nearest town is only 10 mins in the car for stocking up on supplies. Our Dog had a great time every morning at the little beach just down from the cottage, he also got to make friends with the local doggies! Would not hesitate in recommending the cottage and the place, just what you need to get away from it all................. but still having the option to get back in!

Laura (the owner) is a warm and welcoming host. Creel Cottage is an original cottage of Auchmithie, and has an interesting history. Although Auchmithie village does not have what would be termed as commercial amenities, it makes up for in its history, location and ambience. The reputable But ‘n Ben restaurant is located in Auchmithie. A lot of thought was given by Laura in the provision of amenities and useful items in Creel Cottage. The small torch was a god send for the late night walk before retiring. Nice walks locally, take the dog, leave the wife at home.

fabulous location, cottage and amenities. Would definitely come back. The owner welcomed us personally, and ensured that we had everything we could possibly need. The cottage was spotless, warm, comfortable and well equipped. The village is beautiful and close to Arbroath and Montrose. Probably one of the best - if not the best - cottages we've booked. Will definitely go back.
