We were greeted by the owner with a warm welcome. The cottage was lovely, comfortable, in a lovely garden and with views towards the Paps of Jura and West Loch Tarbert. It was an ideal place to stay in order to enjoy the beautiful Kintyre Peninsula.

As soon as I stepped into the cottage I felt wrapped in a lovely comforting blanket. The owner, Elizabeth, showed me around and left an amazing welcome pack of home made bread, marmalade and a Victoria sponge, along with milk, cheese, and oatcakes. Although next door, the owners are not at all intrusive but are there if you need anything. I found the cottage very relaxing. It is situated on the main Campbelltown road but I wasn't aware of road noise at night. The rear of the cottage looks over farmland to Jura. You can see the Islay ferry passing from Kennacraig. Although the lounge area isn't huge the French windows make it feel very spacious. For those of you with dogs, a word of caution. Small dogs are perfect as there is an enclosed garden, however the fence is not high and a big dog would be out and over into the farmers field. As the cottage is on the main road I found it too stressful to walk my over inquisitive lab from the cottage and had to venture further in the car for all his walks. If you dont like getting in the car for the dog walk this is not the place for you. This is a lovely area to explore. I particularly enjoyed the gardens at Arduaine, Machrihanish beach, Skipness and Tarbert. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this lovely cottage, with the note about large dogs.

We had a wonderful time over Easter here. Great views and a great base for exploring Kintyre peninsula. A field full of lambs out the back, a beach a 15 minute walk away and a great walk up and around the hill you can see out the back of the cottage. Clachan is a lovely village. Personally I think the cottage would be ok for 2 x adults and 2 x small children. We were 2 x adults and 1 x medium sized dog which was fine. The living room isn’t big enough for 4 x adults to be comfortable in. You’re also right on the main road which isn’t clear from the pictures but honestly it was set far enough back that it felt secure and was quiet enough. It was only the occasional motorbike flying past that woke us up in the morning. Highly recommended.

The cottage is fabulous, it is perfect for exploring Kintyre and idealy situated between Kennacraig and Tayinloan. Moreover it is only a short car trip to Tarbert and Campbeltown is only 30 mins away. It was warm enough, cosy and had everything that you could need or wish for. Cracking views to the paps on Jura to boot. It is tastefully decorated and Mrs. Ball was at hand with a run down of all that you needed to know. Furthermore provided us with a freshly baked loaf and lemon drizzle cake, both delish. If I return to Kintyre for another holiday, I could not wish for a better base.

The cottage was specially built by a firm in Ayr and is known as the Wee House. It is practically maintenance free and was very comfortable and cosy. It sleeps 4 although two have to share a rather small bedroom with beds close together while the double room has considerable space. The cottage is well equipped with a log stove in the sitting area which (quite frankly) is probably superfluous since the rooms also have central heating. There is an ingenious kitchen table and chairs where the chairs are slotted into the table when not being used and this saves space. However, the chairs are rather unique in style and I always felt they lacked stability with a tendency for the person sitting to tilt over forwards. The grounds of the cottage are delightful and the location is very pleasant. A full view of the sea would have been nice but it is not far away. A petrol garage lies less than a mile away (thereafter it is either Campbeltown or Lochgilphead, several miles hence). Tarbert is about 10 miles hence, a nice little harbour with a selection of small shops, etc. The location is ideal for those who - like me - enjoy cruising with Caledonian MacBrayne to such islands as Arran and Bute.

This accommodation lived up to our expectations and was everything we wanted for a relaxing break in the area. An amazing home made welcome pack with bread, jam, cake etc was appreciated after the drive and the owners Elizabeth and John couldn’t have been more welcoming without being intrusive. A fabulous cottage and enclosed garden for our inquisitive dog - amazing sunsets enjoyed with local produce - in a cozy, comfortable and well maintained cottage.
