We enjoyed being in Embleton and both the view from the property and it’s easy access to the beach were brilliant. However, we had to wash all the crockery, cutlery and glassware before we could use any of it and this should really have been checked and sorted prior to our arrival. The shower wasn’t brilliant - you got a cold shot every time despite pressing the boost button - as advised by previous occupants. One of the garden chairs was broken and a dinner plate and bowl were cracked and unusable. We found the shower door seal on the shelf at the end of the bath and refitted it as best we could and it only leaked a little bit. The inner doors all stuck and could only be shut if you slammed them - not good if you trying to use the loo discreetly during the night! All of the above is easily sorted but it’s coloured our view of the property which is such a shame because it could be an amazing place to stay in Embleton. We reported the problems on 2/8/19 and hope that they can be sorted asap.

Location wise the area cannot be faulted. Absolutely stunning views. Was a great base from which to explore much of Northumberland, which is breathtakingly beautiful. That said though we were extremely disappointed with the cottage. The cottage is in desperate need of a deep clean. Everything was grubby. Even the bedding wasn't properly clean. Stains on the duvet cover in the main bedroom. Bathroom & kitchen looked at best as if they had just had a wipe over before we arrived. Toilet flusher wasn't working properly either. If anyone wants to use the shower directly after someone else, then we recommend pressing the boost button on the heating panel in the cupboard. That said, even doing this didnt always produce hot water. Had to boil the kettle a few times to do the washing up. The furniture in the living room is very dated & extremely uncomfortable & needs replacing. The only good thing about the cottage was the garden. It would have been pleasant to sit out in it had there been any garden furniture, which according to the description there should have been. The lack of which has been mentioned by previous guests. For the money we paid to stay here for the week all we can say is, it is definitely NOT value for money. Very disappointing. Would we go back to Northumberland? Without a doubt. Would we stay here again? Not on your life.

Super location but standards in the cottage was poor 3 dripping taps that clearly had been dripping for some time plumber did come out after reported and fix the problem . General cleanliness could have been better , cobwebs around lights ,skirting boards dusty . Cottage needs some general maintenance . But can't fault the location and local ammenties

Have stayed in this cottage several times. Position cannot be beaten. However, the dripping taps and lack of hot water on the day after arrival was pretty annoying. Also, where has the outside furniture gone? Maintenance issues I fear may grow, as these things were reported over 6 months ago, yet nothing has been done.

The views from the cottage were amazing as was the location. This was out 4th visit to Embleton as we love it so much. When we visited there were a couple of things that needed ironing outin the cottage; dripping taps in both the bathroom and kitchen and the hot water - not enough. A couple of small mats beside the double bed would have been nice as would some garden furniture. However all that said we had a very enjoyable stay and plan to return to the cottage.

We really enjoyed our week at Eider Cottage, it was ideally situated and the view from the back was stunning. The facilities at the cottage were good but it needs more attention to detail, eg. cleanliness - superficially it was ok but the lampshades were dusty as were the light fittings and the decoration needs an upgrade. The windows and window ledges outside needed some attention.

This was our third stay, around the same time of year at the cottage. The location, amenities and cost as well as the fact it's pretty quiet are what make us return. It would be fair to say the cottage was the grubbiest we have ever encountered and the couch is not as comfortable, the tub chair legs were broken and the bed mattress has seen a few too many sleeps - it was so bad I slept in a single bed which was perfect! The bedding is the same from the very first stay..... We will look to see if these things change, and photos are updated before we book this particular cottage again. The brochure asks you to leave it as you found it but I'd have been embarrassed to. I stopped at washing windows and dusting huge cobwebs from windows and ceilings but the floors were swept and washed and the bathroom cleaned before we left (using my own products) - maybe a basic cleaning kit would help. One point I made in the guest book was there was a few BIG dog poo left in the garden, not the company who runs the cottage fault but it hadn't been checked obviously.... It was glorious when we stayed so I enjoy a cuppa outdoors thats why it was spotted and I always check just in case our dogs have been naughty and had a sneaky poo in the garden... It is a beautiful cottage, just needs a tiny update and deep clean. It is in a fantastic location, we don't use the car once we arrive as we can walk for miles every day without the need and the local shop/post office is well stocked for any requirements from loo roll to wine and the local pubs/ restaurants are welcoming and cater fro everyone. We love Northumberland so much, we have in fact just moved here.... Embleton isn't far away now and we would still enjoy a break in a Welcome Cottage.....

Nice little cottage in a good development. Great sea views and a moderate walk down to a lovely beach. The golf club is great for lunch. Only downside was how cold the cottage was, despite several electric heaters, was happy to get home to gas central heating!

Very small, glad there were only 2 of us. Very basic but adequate. Position is great though! Cottage was full of spiders and everything was covered in cobwebs. Village was good and pub friendly and served good food.

There were three issues with an excellent cottage which we have stayed at before: 1. The fire in the lounge did not work so there were electric heaters, which were fine but there was no indication of this problem other than a notice "DO NOT USE" on the gas fire. 2. The remote for the TV did not work very well at all. 3. A rat was observed running around on the patio and hiding in the shrubs.
