Hoseasons "Nestling on the shores of Loch Portree this holiday property offers wonderful views across the bay to the Cuillin mountains.\n\n\nWith wonderful views across the bay to the Cuillin mountains this traditional crofter’s cottage nestles on the shores of Loch Portree and offers spacious accommodation. Built around 1850 it has been lovingly restored with the living room and kitchen situated on the first floor to take advantage of the fine views. Set just feet away from the lapping shores of the loch the views can also be savoured from the seating area of the attractive terraced garden which is reached by a steep path. Altogether a peaceful yet central location – being just 5-minutes’ walk from the town centre. Loved our week at Fleet cottage. It is a gorgeous little cottage with everything needed and in an amazing location with spectacular views yet very close to the town.

It's in a great location; close to the town but in a quiet spot overlooking the bay. There's a parking space, it's quite short though - suitable for a car up to around 4.5m in length. It's a lovely old cottage and is a comfortable and pleasant place to spend a week or two away in. However, the bad bits (and they're not really that bad); the whole cottage felt a bit stingy - the tin opener was worn out and wouldn't work, the oven was broken, the wood/coal stove in the lounge is in dire need of maintenance (and the carbon monoxide detector isn't in the right place) and little things like only one loo roll provided, virtually no soap at all etc. - these are little things that would be inexpensive to provide but would make a difference to how the guests view the cottage. There have been comments about the garden being "dangerous"; it's no more dangerous than a road or anything else - yes it's steep, but it is stepped and if you're responsible enough to rent a cottage, you should be responsible enough to know when to climb steps in the garden (or not). Possibly dangerous if you take a full bottle of whisky to the top terrace then attempt to negotiate the steps back down with the bottle then emptied . . . probably also not recommended to let kids clamber about in the garden.

Comfortable cottage in great position with excellent views and easy access to facilities of Portree.

My favourite place to relax and be out of the way

The cottage itself is lovely and comfortable with very good views from every window. It could have been cleaner. We found it unpersonal that there was nobody to welcome us and to give some instructions, i.e. concerning the woodburner or the tv-set. What we did not appreciate is that there is no fuel for the woodburner, no toilet paper in stock, no showergel, small things that make you feel welcome. We left the key where we found it and never saw the caretaker, which leaves a cold last impression.

Love it, everytime. The upgrades are fabulous. X

Super location. Cottage clean and comfortable. No contact with caretaker.

We arrived after a long drive from Harrogate on Saturday evening to a warm and cosy cottage, situated at the water's edge. It has magnificent views, helped by the upside down nature of the layout and although the weather was not brilliant we were still able to get out and about and enjoy some excellent local restaurants.
