Set in idyllic surroundings and just a few miles from Loweswater and Ennnerdale, you can enjoy open views across the fields of the Western Lake District and you will appreciate the peace and tranquillity from the moment you arrive. Take a dip in the hot tub to ease those aching muscles after a long journey or a day walking in the nearby fells. Or perhaps treat yourself to a sauna before throwing a couple of logs on the outdoor fireplace as you fire up the barbecue while the children play badminton on the lawn. The outdoor facilities at this lodge are simply fantastic.
The lodge is set in a great location for exploring the Western Lakes between Cockermouth, Ennerdale and Loweswater. If you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, the Lake District National Park is less than 2 miles away with its abundance of walks, cycle routes, wildlife, mountains and lakes. It also offers easy access to explore the western coast and has a couple of pubs and restaurants nearby. The nearest lake is Loweswater, about 5 miles away, which leads to Crummock Water and Buttermere. The scenery around this unspoilt part of The Lakes is simply stunning and the beauty, colours and unforgettable panoramic views are a sight to behold. Whether you want an easy stroll, a challenging walk or a serious climb, you’ve got a great base to start your adventures. Just 6 miles away is Ennerdale, regarded as one of the most unspoilt areas of The Lake District National Park and is teeming with wildlife, including indigenous red squirrels, ospreys and buzzards. If you want a real adrenaline boost, you have one of the best go-karting tracks in the country at Rowrah, 2½ miles away. There is also good access to a number of coastal towns including Whitehaven, 7½ miles, with good restaurants, a popular harbour and great shopping. St Bees Head Heritage Coast is 10 miles, offering excellent coastal walks and golden sandy beaches. And of course you’ll love Cockermouth, 8 miles, with its abundance of speciality shops, coffee houses, restaurants and attractions. Visit Wordsworth House for a spot of culture, or maybe Jennings Brewery, beneath the castle walls, offering tasting tours. Kirkgate Arts provides a cinema and theatre performances. Beach 10 miles. Shop 2¼ miles, pub 1¾ miles and restaurant 4¾ miles.
