Extremely comfortable large bed with heated blankets. A low heat should have been on in the downstairs bedroom as there is a 'feeling' of damp, and there was no where to dry the towels. No heating was on, wasnt sure if we should have fiddled with any controls. But some warmth would have been better. Over all very friendly village and quiet stay. and great food at the Mortal Man pub.

Superb way to spend the Christmas week. Quality of kitchen goods allowed extensive feasts to be prepared.

It was an excellent weekend, even thou we had rain is a beautiful part of the lakes, magical. the cottage even thou is small is very cosy and it has everything needed, the only downside i found was that going with a springer, on days with rain the cottage has carpet and in the bedroom this is cream colour we had to buy plastic to protect the carpet till the dog was dry, but it worked, the bed is very very comfy and big. the scones on the tea room are simply delicious we had a fantastic long weekend, thank you

My only suggestion would be a bigger couch or a more comfortable chair as we didn't both fit comfortably on the couch and the chair was pretty uncomfortable. Also the WiFi was very intermittent

Having visited the delightful village of Troutbeck some years ago we were looking forward to our stay in the idyllic looking Granary Cottage. The weather outside was wet and cold and we anticipated a lovely weekend in a cosy cottage. What a disappointment we got on opening the door. It was even colder inside, with dark dreary dated decor and an overwhelming musty smell. Downstairs was even colder, and the bed very damp indeed. The property must not have been used for some time. It took until the 3rd and final day of our break for the cottage to reach an acceptable temperature. Having said all that, everything was immaculately clean, and we left it as we found it. The bed once we heated it for a couple of hours with the electric blanked supplied, was very comfortable. We enjoyed eating at the Mortal Man, visiting Holehird gardens, and the beautiful church at the bottom of the hill with its stunning stained glass and beautiful tapestry cushions.

A lovely cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings and very accessible for most areas within the lake district. The cottage has some good local walks around it and ideal if you have a dog. As regards to the cottage itself,it would only be suitable for 2 adults as quite small, has adequate kitchen equipment, and a nice comfortable bed. The stairs however are very narrow and steep, and not suitable for those with mobility issues. The seating in the lounge needs to be improved as when you’ve been out walking all day it would be nice to have comfortable seating and this clearly wasn’t.
