The cottage was very clean and had everything you neded as if you were in your own home.I gave a 7 for local amenities but we expected that as we were in a cottage in the countryside. We were made most welcome by the owners and they supplied milk, tea, coffee, fresh flowers and scones with jam and cream, which we appreciated after our long journey from Scotland.
Brilliant week on our first cottage holiday with our dog. Really well equipped cottage and lovely touches like homemade scones, flowers and dog biscuits when we arrived really made a difference. Hosts were very friendly and welcoming.
It’s a beautiful part of the country with so many things to do nearby. Highlights for us were Flamingoland, Whitby and Scarborough.
Looking forward to a return visit!

Beautiful cottage. Owners very pleasant, nice touch with flowers and lovely scones with jam and cream. Equipment in kitchen very good, the one complaint was the showers in both bedrooms, we couldnt get the temperature right, boiling hot then freezing cold, best we could manage with the shower over the bath was lukewarm by keeping flow on medium and temperature on maximum. room with shower cubicle couldnt get regular temperature at all. On leaving I did mention the problem to the owner so I am sure he will get the matter sorted.
It wouldnt put me off using the cottage again
Good location if you like dog walking.
Grain End was everything we expected and more, we had a lovely welcome of home made scones and the contact with the owner shortly after arrival and when leaving was very thoughtful. The cottage was very well kept along with the garden, The seating and beds were also comfortable. For us it was a perfect spot.

Lovely break, good location to visit all the wonderful towns and Historic Sights.A good escapism from normal life.A charming cottage in an idyllic setting.
Small but perfectly formed.
From the moment we arrived we felt like we had found a home away from home. Kids loved it as did the adults and the dog.
The cottage had everything anyone could need for the stay and more. Nice little pub within dog walking distance and the best butchers/farm shop serving one of the best pies i have ever had around the corner.
A perfect location for Scarborough and all it has to offer in easy driving distance.
A stylish and well equipped cottage in a secluded spot. Car essential. Follow the owner's instructions rather than a sat nav to avoid the scenic route. Lots of great outings within easy reach. Emma and Rob are very helpful and the site is very well run.
We had a really good holiday here and would come again
Lovely cottage . We had a relaxing week exploring the moors and coast . Perfect base and the owners are ideal hosts . We would highly recommend.
Lovely quiet cottage. Small but spacious. Well stocked with everything you could need.
Lovely cosy cottage, great location, owners Emma & Rob very nice & helpful, lots to see & do like home from home.
The cottage was very well equipped, decor and overall cleanliness was good. Nice touch of cake and fresh flowers when we arrived. On the downside the settee and armchairs were very uncomfortable, a footstool would have been useful. Also my daughter found the bathroom smelt of damp and mould which we could see in both bathrooms.
Lovely week at the cottage for my sons first holiday! Great base for the surrounding areas such as Scarborough, Filey, Whitby etc. A little way out from supermarkets etc but this can be expected from staying in a little village. Cottage lovely and welcoming, hosts fantastic! Little touches such as cake and tea on arrival, milk in the fridge shows they really care. I absolutely would stay here again without a doubt and I am sure we will in the future.
Very enjoyable stay at Grain End Cottage, Met the owners Rob and Emma on our first day who were very friendly and offered any help should we need it. Had some very good food out and about at the Anvil Inn in Sawdon, Coachman Inn in Snainton and the Copper Horse in Seamer all of which are very close to the cottage. The cottage is situated in an ideal place for visiting many local attractions including Scarborough, Castle Howard and various other Country houses and gardens. Would recommend to cottage to friends and family without hesitation.
lovely clean cottage in a quiet location but a bit remote web site says 6.5 miles to scarborough but it is 2.5 miles to a170 then another 8 miles to scarborough so had to do a lot of driving to get anywhere
Beautiful week at the cottage with my two young boys, very clean on arrival, very friendly owners, very well kitted out, fantastic wildlife on the front lawn. Recommend to anyone seeking peace and quiet.
