    Well worn is the best description..beds are uncomfortable to say the least. While I saw the similarities in the cottage to the online photos in reality the online photos were very kind. My partner thought it was good for the price.. mumyself, I'd rather have paid more for something better.

    We did enjoy our break and don’t like to complain but the cottage was very tired and needed work. I was a little disappointed to see that previous complaints hadn’t been addressed. There was a leak in the bathroom and the hot tap wouldn’t turn off. The bathroom door caught on the floor and the children couldn’t shut it. There was a leak under the kitchen sink and the conservatory windows leaked. We made the most of our break. It was spotlessly clean and lovely and warm. The children were happy and we had a quiet break.

    The location (as a walker) was excellent for coastal path, after the heavy rainfall however the approach was very poor and the directions not very clear, the cottage was practically on the coast not in the village. There are two heavy metal ‘farm’ gates to open before you arrive at the cottage, neither of which was particularly easy, the first one has dropped so has to be dragged or lifted and the second one also dropped but not as badly and was very difficult to open the spring loaded catch. We are both pensioners and, thankfully quite fit, but for anyone not so healthy it would be a challenge. The inside was very dated, a number of the windows rattled very badly and Phil had to move a handle from the kitchen window to the lounge window to make it a bit more secure and stop the howling window from blowing in. The floor in the lounge by the bay window has collapsed and we had to be careful where we stood to open/close curtains/blinds. The kitchen however was well equipped though a bit on the small size if the cottage was fully occupied. The conservatory was a lovely size but again, some windows were poor and the roof leaked in several places making it impossible to use as a lounging area, which was a shame as I’m sure in the summer months it is lovely (providing you don’t get any rain !) . I’m sure when the bedding was new it was lovely, but we noticed the pillow covers on our bed especially were damaged (splits in the ‘silk’), so we had to turn them over to sleep on. A bedside lamp didn’t work so we had to swap with one from another room. The bathroom was ok but sadly the flange in the bottom of the shower screen was non existent and therefore leaked across the floor every time we took a shower. When we arrived we noticed that the kettle didn’t work and rang the owners who advised us they were 100 miles away and could not do much, but they owned the other cottage at the bottom of the driveway and we were asked to go and swap kettles with that property, not a problem but surely it would make sense to have checked these items before letting the property. All in all we were very disappointed considering the cost and we left the cottage on the Wednesday even though we had booked a full week. Having read previous reviews the windows have been a problem all year, when I mentioned the problem to the owners I was told the handyman would check it out yet in a previous review from March it was stated that the windows were going to be replaced, surely this should have been done by now if the owners had any consideration for their clients and not just focus on optimum letting at the cost of clients returning. We certainly will not entertain returning to this property.

    Great location beside beautiful beach, but walking limited to coastal path which is treacherous in places. The cottage is a bit basic with several maintenance issues but we enjoyed our stay, it was ideal for my sister's dog.

    Many of the faults have been in earlier reviews this year, so I was surprised to find that the hot tap still started running again after being turned off, bathroom door wouldn't shut, raining in in conservatory, broken glass in front window,which also had rotten windows with some nailed shut,some of windows in conservatory had blown double glazing. Beds were uncomfortable & down stairs double bedroom very cramped. Outside light at front & twin bedroom bedside light not working, metal gates on drive were very hard to open & caught on the ground. Freezer shelves thick with ice. Kitchen equipment was fine, but the lack of a vacuum cleaner, just a long brush & mop made cleaning up very difficult, especially when you are there for 2 weeks. The location is good for the Welsh Coastal Path & Abersoch or Pwllheli are about 25 minutes away by car. Garden & Penllech Beach very good for dogs. A 4 star rating should reflect the total package & not just the location.
