I always like going to heron rest it a lovely cottage

We have been going to Heron rest cottage the last three years. Great location but felt the cottage needs refreshed as the furniture has past its best and needs renewed.

Great accommodation and spacious for two people. Cottage is very dog friendly but the island is not with sheep at every turn.

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful place lovely and clean

Cottage was very comfortable apart from the couch. The garden was huge but in need of some work. Dogs still had a great time running around.

Beautifully quiet and stunning location withy the coast just 3 mins away and Neist Point very close. Local shop and cafe selling superb cakes and lunches available if you wish. Herons Rest is remote and was perfect for a great get away from it all. Skye is absolutely stunning and I would visit again.

We'll be happy to come back: A cozy, very quiet cottage, away from the main road to Neist Point. Bed with very good mattresses. Nice and very clean bathroom with bathtub shower. Washing machine, microwave and fully equipped kitchen, unfortunately the kitchen utensils were a little dirty and worn, as well as the sofa and the armchair, otherwise clean. Large, modern TV with satellite reception, good DVD selection. Music system and good book and music CD selection. Incredibly beautiful nature all around. We saw a white-tailed eagle on the power pole and seals in the Pooltiel Bay, which is within walking distance.

A wonderful cottage, cosy, comfortable, peaceful, secluded, everything we wished for and more. Well appointed with views that take your breath away. We also fell in love with Skye, we will return! I think it would benefit from some outdoor seating - maybe a bench. I sat on a cushion and was fine, but others might not like that!

There is no getting away from the fact that it is remote, but that is what we were looking for so it didn't phase us. I can also confirm the grass cutting service is now fully operational as they came around while we were still in bed one morning! It is 2km to the local shop and cafe, both of which are friendly and well stocked - the cafe being fully dog friendly is a great bonus. We found the cottage to be cosy and well equipped, although a new frying pan wouldn't go amiss (the two in situ were both warped and losing their non-stick coating). Somewhere to sit outside, perhaps with garden furniture would also have been on my wish list, but we really didn't want to leave.

This was the perfect place for me to write my masters dissertation, which was the purpose of booking this holiday. I've put local amenities as low, as there really isn't anything around - which for me was perfect, but for others may be an issue. There is a local shop open every day except Sunday, and the cafe opposite the shop is lovely - both around a 30 minute walk away - possibly less if your dog doesn't insist on sniffing every blade of grass on the way. The nearest petrol station is around 9 miles away on a single-tracked lane (the way to access the property too, I got to love it, but others might not!) The beach at the loch is less than a 10-minute walk away, and always empty (at least for the first weeks of July). The accommodation was perfect for my small dog, although maybe larger dogs might need more space in the garden - around the doors and windows the grass was cut, but most of the private garden was long grass. The wi-fi is great, just as good as my fibre in London! The views are spectacular, and I loved the isolation, but please be aware that it is isolated.

Location is amazing but let down by nettles, weeds and long grass up to the entrance, no outside care whatsoever and cottage could do with a coat of paint. No area for sitting out even though advertised as sitting out area with garden furniture, none there ! It's a wild meadow with grass 3 feet long, every time our dog needed to use it she came back in with ticks from long grass. Wood burner not in use as birds nesting. Cheap sofa to sit on and I had to cover it with dog blanket, coffee table more suited to outside use. Lights not working and pots/pans seen better days :( Very disappointed.

Very poorly equipped, grass in the garden was 2 foot long, hasn’t seen any paint for years , only saving grace was it was clean inside, overall impression is of one of making as much money as possible from the property, hugely disappointed

A lovely little cottage in a wonderful setting.

    out of 10

This property is in a poor state of disrepair the only photo of the outside was taken from outer space so that you couldn't see the state it was in. It needs a lot of work doing ie. Garden/ garden furniture/ clothes airer/ fencing/ parking the building itself has not seen paint for many years all either needing fixed or are non existant .the inside failed slightly better but needs new furniture and a remote control for the TV would have been handy also no hair drier and the log burner stove was out of commission because birds had made there home in the chimney.all in all not the romantic get away we expected. Very basic

Spent a lovely week at Heron's Rest. Unfortunately having 2 dogs I didn't do my research too well and didn't realise there were "free-ranging" sheep all over this area! Apart from this it was very relaxing and cottage was lovely.
