    > Higher Farm is located just 6 miles from the New Forest National Park in the quiet, picturesque village of Martin within a conservation area and on the edge of Martin Down National Nature Reserve. These two single-storey barn conversions, adjoining one another, were formerly the saddle room and stables for the small farm and have been transformed into very comfortable, tastefully furnished and immaculately presented holiday accommodation with a contemporary, light and airy feel. On the farm guests are welcome to walk up and see the animals, which including chickens, horses and ponies and a small flock of sheep grazing in the fields. Each property has a personal sitting out area at the front, in addition to tables and chairs on the orchard. There is also a bicycle store, barbecue and croquet set. The village of Martin is set in the Cranborne Chase and West Wilshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and offers excellent scenic walks and cycle rides from the farm. The village has its own small community-run shop which opens twice a day on week days (9am-11am and 5pm-6pm) and once in the morning on Saturdays (9am-12.30pm) as well as an historic Norman church. The medieval city of Salisbury, 8 miles, has its famous cathedral spire and close, individual shops, pubs and restaurants, a theatre and a cinema which is housed in the old wool market, offers a unique cinema experience. The New Forest National Park boundary is a picturesque drive of around 6 miles and Godshill always has lots of New Forest ponies and cattle to enjoy. Fordingbridge is known for its famous medieval stone bridge with its fine arches; it boasts plenty of shops, pubs and cafés and there are excellent walks along the river. Chose Location for family reasons rather than vacation. Had previous stay at this location hence our choice. Property is getting a little tired and could do with overhaul and a clean ie bathroom Reno as shower leaks everywhere and could do with a new bed.

My son and I had the most amazing time here. 4 days of chill out, adventures and fun. Accommodation was beautiful, my son, aged 4 was totally in his element and I adored watching him roam around the farm, free and enjoying himself. It was totally what we needed and we were so welcomed - lovely hosts and so friendly. The shortbread that was out for us when we arrived was perfect too and so delicious plus homemade jam for when we left too. We will be back for sure. It was everything I wanted for some quality mum and son time away. Thank you ?

The saddle room was well kept and very clean. Owners left milk on arrival and homemade jam from farm. Couldn't fault it really and kitchen was very well stocked compared to some cottages I've stayed in. Only problem we had was no pub In the village or within walking distance but of course that can't be helped! Would definitely stay again, and woodburner was an added bonus!!

A beautiful cottage, very tastefully decorated in a peaceful location. Everything you need for a comfortable stay has been thought of. The milk and shortbread were a lovely touch. The bedroom is very spacious with a very comfortable bed. The shower was very powerful. It was great to have detailed instructions of two walks starting from the cottage. The village is made up of very pretty houses and cottages many of which are thatched. The cottage is well placed to visit the New Forest and surrounding area.
