Hillend Farmhouse offers an electric wood burner for cosy nights in and French doors leading out into the landscaped gardens and pond.

    Located on Scotland’s West Coast the properties are ideally situated to explore the beauty of the Ayrshire coastline, with villages, beaches and rocky coves to explore. It is an ideal location for cyclists and walkers with Skelmorlie heralding the start of the Ayrshire Coastal Path, a 100-mile long coastal walk. Inland there is walking, cycling, gardens and castles to visit along with the opportunity to ride, fish, and golf (the world famous Turnberry course is nearby). Culzean Castle Country Park, extending for over 550-acres has a network of wooded trails passing along the beach.

    Explore the islands of Cumbrae, Arran and the Isle of Bute or catch a ferry to Dunoon and the Cowal Peninsula, which gives you great access to the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Glasgow and Edinburgh are easily reached for a day trip with plenty of activities. Beach 7½ miles. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

    The house is beautifully furnished, and a lovely place to spend time. There was bottle of wine for us on arrival, a box of chocolates and a huge basket of fruit. There were a couple of annoying things - the bidet is plumbed in back to front (cold to hot and hot to cold); there is no towel rail in the upstairs bathroom; there is a huge tv in every room which is great, but the signal is poor and the wifi is not strong enough to stream netflix. Overall it's a very nice house.

    2 children and 4 adults very comfortable in the house. Beds were excellent and anyone who has read any of my reports will know I’m fussy. House very well equipped with many extras. Lovely touch, chocolates, fruit other bits and pieces. Hot tub was well used by part of the family. Having 2 sitting rooms, it was good for the oldies (us) to get some quiet time until the kids found us. My son was met by owner and given a very warm welcome and shown how everything works. The handyman was around in the yard at times looking after the 2 horses so was available without being intrusive.My grand daughter enjoyed going to visit the horses in the morning. Thank you again Mr Wilson for extending or break by 1 day for us without any problems. We will recommend your house and your new one on the site looks stunning, we might try it next time. Thank you

    We had an amazing time at Hillend Cottage we did not want to leave. It was home from home in a luxurious setting decorated for Xmas & New Year it was an amazing way to set the new year in. Gareth the owner was fantastic, thank you we will definitely be back.

    Didn't know cottage is next to a car auction business. Need code to get through gates and they are doing up the adjacent cottage next door. However inside the cottage is well equipped and hot tub is certainly a great bonus. Someone had left ankle socks in one of the double beds so I guess sheets hadn't been changed. Mouse droppings in cupboard under sink. No cafetière.

    We had a wonderful holiday visiting Largs, Irvine and Troon. There were excellent restaurants in the area and we found the Scotts restaurants at both Largs and Troon marinas superb as well as the Michelin starred restaurant Braidwoods just down the road. A gentleman met us on arrival and the owner visited later in the week and we had a good chat with them both. Shame we had to leave as we love the west coast of Scotland.
