Tucked away in a quiet location in the rural village of Starbotton, this semi-detached, stone built barn conversion is set amidst the dramatic scenery of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It has been lovingly converted and tastefully furnished, combining traditional features of original oak beams, Yorkshire stone floors and exposed stonework creating an ambient retreat.
The Dales Way passes close by and a walk up Buckden Pike affords some stunning views and wonderful photo opportunities, along with some more gentle walks along the riverbanks. Nearby is the thriving village of Grassington which is well served with a variety of country shops, pubs and cafés. In summer it hosts an Arts Festival, where you will find some famous musicians, poets and comedians, and in winter it holds the Dickensian Festival to get you in the mood for Christmas.
The bustling market town of Skipton is a little further afield and is known as the ‘gateway to the Dales’, its castle stands proudly at the head of its wide sweeping cobbled high street. There is a large selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, together with trips on the canal, a golf course and an indoor swimming pool. After all the daily activities in this magnificent Dale, take time to sit on the balcony, just off the living room, and take in the magnificent views. Alternatively, dine al fresco in the beautiful lawned garden surrounded by picturesque countryside or call at the family run village pub which serves food - a difficult choice! Shop 2 miles, pub ¼ mile, restaurant 2 miles.

Lovely home from home. Very quiet location but a great rental. A real old local pub with good food just five minutes walk away. Would most certainly rent again.

Have booked this cottage over a number of years and are never disappointed. The new garden furniture is great and is a vast improvement over the previous tired looking table and chairs. I had to clean the bbq before cooking so would recommend a notice to ask guests to clean the grill rack after use. The house, as usual, is perfect. 5 star property. ?

Great property in a stunning rural location well away from the hustle of modern life. Nice local walks down to the river down stone wall lined paths. Property is a converted barn with living accommodation upstairs and bedrooms downstairs. About a 25min drive from Skipton, but the local small town of Grassington has all the essentials and very attractive. Amazing daffodils blooms everywhere in spring. Would happily rebook.

We have stayed ay Hilltop Barn several times now, and certainly hope to return. If you love the Dales as we do, and Wharfedale in particular, the location is ideal. Certainly the best cottage at which we have stayed, after many years of visiting Wharfedale.
