This is a very nice cottage that makes often ingenious use of space. It is attached to the owners’ property. It has two bedrooms, one a double and one a single each with an en suite shower room and toilet. Parking is right outside on the ample drive. It is very convenient for exploring Northumberland. Alnwick, Alnmouth, Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle are particularly near. There is a well stocked Co-op a few hundred yards up the road in Longhoughton. The Cottage has BT broadband and it is a fast connection. It lacked a microwave, iron and ironing board, broom and a teapot. The small kitchen work top space meant that the 2 ring electric hob had to double as a draining board. All in all though many more plus points than minus points and we enjoyed our stay.

Really lovely cottage. Was one of the best we have ever stayed at. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, but not intrusive. So close to a beautiful, dog friendly beach. Good connections to all the major attractions of the area. Small garden was very useful for the dogs and for sitting in as it was so sunny. We would definitely consider rebooking if we return to the area.

Cottage was small but comfortable and had everything you need. The property is ideally placed for visiting all of Northumberland and is only a 20 minute walk to an outstanding beach and the Northumberland coastal walk. The village of Longhoughton has a well stocked Co-Op for essentials and Alnwick is only 10 minutes away by car with all of its facilities. We really enjoyed our stay, we found the road noise a little intrusive in the morning with people going to work and the school run. But we come from a quite part of the world, others from more built up areas may not notice it at all. Friendly owner who did not intrude but was very helpful if needed.

The cottage was reasonably warm and comfortable though it was very cold outside. We found the wood-burner a little tricky to use as we'd never used one before but when properly going it was very effective! The bed was comfortable and duvet certainly warm enough. The en-suite was "cosy" but shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Like all too many holiday cottages the bath towels weren't very big but we coped! For us the location was very intentional as we know the area reasonably well. It is about a mile or so to the beach or to the pub at Boulder. There is a reasonably well stocked Co-op in the village and a very friendly coffee shop, Company B, and then you are only 7 minutes drive into Alnwick. What's not to like?!

Excellent few days in the winter. A lot of amenities closed for the season. Cottage was warm and cosy. I would add a coffee (wine and telegraph) table with the sofas. Sue and John were friendly next door. There is a coop in the village but not much else nearby, but its not far to Alnwick (lidl and morrisons). It took just over an hour to drive to once brewed and Hadrians wall. About 28miles to berwick and a couple more to the scotland sign. Eyemouth was a working harbour, with a pub in the car park near the beach where you could watch the waves crashing in whilst sheltered. Would like to return in the summer. Shame we are working and 400 miles away!

Holly Cottage was welcoming and homely. Equipped with everything we needed for a long weekend away. The kitchen is compact but provides all you need - we were able to cook a meal with ease. Being able to take our dog along for the trip was fantastic. It also has a small garden which the dog was able to make use of. The owner is very friendly but did not intrude on us during our visit. Little Houghton is perfectly placed to visit the surrounding villages and beaches. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to visit Northumberland.
