    > This single-storey converted barn lies in the grounds of the owners’ home, amongst 3 acres of orchards and ponds. Set back from the road passing through the village, it truly feels rural surrounded by countryside, and is a stylish and luxurious base from which to explore the area. Great care and attention has been lavished on restoring and decorating the barn, with reclaimed floorboards throughout and some original stone walls kept intact. The secluded and private outside seating area overlooks the field beyond. The village of Meare is set on the beautiful Somerset Levels, by the River Brue. It is 3 miles west of Glastonbury and 10 miles from Wells, England’s smallest city. The area is famous for its nature reserves, a favourite of walkers and birdwatchers. Many people come here to watch the murmuration of starlings from autumn to spring. Both bitterns and otters have been successfully reintroduced onto the Ham Wall Reserve. Nearby Glastonbury has many visitor attractions, from the tor to the abbey, the array of individual shops with spiritual themes, and the annual music festival a few miles outside the town. The city of Wells has a magnificent cathedral with a 13th-century working clock, the cobbled medieval street and the Bishop’s Palace, as well as a lively weekly market in its cobbled square. Also, visit Cheddar Gorge and the caves at Wookey Hole and Clark’s retail village at Street. The cities of Bath and Bristol are within an easy drive, as is the county town of Taunton. The coastal resorts of west Somerset and north Devon can be reached within an hour. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Comfortable, relaxing cottage and beautiful area for walking and bird watching. Many National Trust properties such as Stourhead to explore. Days out to the Dorset coast including Lyme Regis, West Bay and fossil hunting on Chesil beach. Glastonbury, Wells, Frome and Clevedon just a few places worth visiting. A short trip to the magnificent Stonehenge...perfect location.

A clean, comfortable and well-stocked cottage which was a pleasure to stay in. The cottage is well situated for enjoying the nearby attractions. The lovely basket of goodies was very welcome after a long drive. We would happily recommend the cottage.

We had a wonderful family time at the Orchard Barn. The setting is magnificent, quiet and set in a beautiful garden. Very friendly owners who live in the opposite farm. There is a farm shop close by and a number of great restaurants, ie the Duck and the Swan with great outdoor seating. We usually spend our longer weekends in the Cotswolds but this was worth the one hour extra drive. Somerset is a beautiful part of England and we enjoyed exploring it.

A very comfortable cottage, and perfectly placed for exploring the four nature reserves nearby and for cycle rides along quiet lanes in the beautiful Somerset Levels. I really enjoyed my stay there.

A beautiful cottage in a wonderful rural area. If your looking to stay in somerse t i recommend this place as it is central to nearly everywhere. Glastonbury, Street and Wells being very near, with some excellent places to eat and shop too (Clarke's village is amazing value). The cottage itself is beautiful. Very comfortable, with a log fire and large tv. The kitchen is lovely with the best of implements and the owners are extremely kind welcoming you with a gift basket. The double was more comfortable than my own as we're the pillows, and the bedding was lush along with the rest of the furniture. I accompanied an elderly gentleman for a four day break but would visit here again, and this accomodation.
