There are many species of birds and ducks, and occasionally a heron, attracted by the loch and its surroundings.  If you are lucky you may also spot deer, badgers, foxes and birds of prey. For walkers this is a perfect base. From the cottage door heading through Palmallet Farm you can pick up the coastal path either heading north to Garlieston or south to the Isle of Whithorn. The pretty little sandy beach at Rigg Bay is delightful and the views from Cruggleton Castle are beautiful.

We had a lovely holiday and our dogs had a great time too. Palmallet provided us with the perfect base from which to explore this totally unspoilt area. Our hosts were welcoming, helpful and very generous with their welcome hamper. Thank you Roy and Martina.

We felt at home as soon as we arrived at Palmallet Cottage. The cottage is in beautiful, peaceful surroundings but the lovely owners are nearby should you need anything. The cottage is really comfortable, well equipped, roomy (ideal when you have two large labradors!) and a generous welcome pack is waiting for you on arrival. The garden is spacious and really secure so you can relax on the lawn whilst the dogs are strolling around without fear of them getting up to any mischief. A superb get away from it all place where you can totally relax and enjoy all that this wonderful area has to offer.

A lovely, cosy cottage with everything you could possibly need. We had found it so difficult to find a cottage that would take three dogs but Palmallet Cottage is absolutely perfect. It has a huge, secure garden which the dogs loved exploring.

What a wonderful cottage! The photos don’t really do it justice. We had a wonderful stay from the crisp, clean scent as we first opened the front door to the slightly tearful goodbye. Lovely spot, wonderful local walks, and everything you could possibly need provided in the cottage and pretty garden (including the dog bowl we forgot to pack!). Thank you for a wonderful stay!

the shower is very high for people with a disability, and the laminate floors in the lounge and bedroom are cold and noisy and mar an otherwise lovely cottage. Very quiet and peaceful.
