There is an unfenced pond in the grounds 50 yards away. \n \u003e Pheasants Hill Old Byre was once one of the cow barns of Pheasants Hill Farm and is nestled adjacent to the owners’ home. The farm buildings date from the mid-18th century and comprise a traditional brick-and-flint farmhouse an impressive range of outbuildings - barns granary and cart shed. Originally belonging to the Hambleden Estate it ceased being a working farm in 1962 and was purchased by the present owner’s father in 1968. The farm is situated in the renowned Hambleden Valley and lies within the Pheasants Hill Conservation Area as well as the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is under the protection of a National Trust covenant.\nYou will find mementoes of previous generations throughout the property. The owner’s grandfather was a master carver and you will be sleeping in a wonderful carved oak bed that he made for his own wedding in 1902 but made super-comfortable with a brand new sprung base and orthopaedic mattress. The owner’s father was an artist and nearly all of the paintings and drawings in the property are his work.\nThe one-acre garden shared with the owners is fully enclosed to keep the deer out. Guests can enjoy their own sitting area with table and chairs provided. The garden is looked after without the use of pesticides or herbicides and is in consequence a haven for wildlife. The wildflower meadow is covered in cowslips in the spring and more than 100 Pyramid Orchids appear in the summer.\nThe owners are passionate about wildlife and the environment and will be donating 15 of earnings on the property to local wildlife and conservation charities. Hot water and heating in the property uses electricity solely from renewable resources. Rainwater for the garden is collected in a large underground cistern. Shoptea room and pubrestaurant ½ mile.\n \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/133/840/1339200.jpg UKC1523

This was a very pleasant cottage for a very enjoyable week in an attractive part of England we probably wouldn't usually think of visiting. The owners were very dog friendly and so were the local pubs and that contributed to an easy and relaxing holiday.

Wonderful countryside to look around. Friendly people everywhere - not only in the pub. :) Maybe the most beautiful cottages we've ever seen. Only good impressions. It gives the best impression of what is England.

Property is small but very homely. Wonderfully peaceful. Owners are very welcoming. Great pub nearby.

This was an excellent property in a very peaceful location. The hosts Charles and Kate were very welcoming and friendly and Kate's home baking was delicious! The location was ideal for visiting many different places without having to drive too far. Hambledon has a village shop and pub (food and service good) and Henley and Marlow are only a short drive away for shopping, eating etc. We had a wonderful relaxing week at this property and would highly recommend it.

A beautifully presented barn conversion with the warmest of welcomes and help on hand without being in any way intrusive. An ideal place for exploring the Thames Valley the Hambledoen Valley and the wider Chiltern Hills.

Lovely, most unusual accommodation, just the thing for a chill-out break. Hosts were superb. Not only did they advise us on appropriate site seeing locations, we were treated to a moth trap extravaganza!!

Lovely cottage, very welcoming with homemade biscuits and free range eggs. Beautiful location a short drive to Henley-on-Thames. The pub in Hambleden was a short distance away where we enjoyed two very good meals.

Delightful barn conversion cottage with a combination of some beautiful pieces of old furniture and art work together with a modern kitchen and bathroom. Great welcome from the owners and unexpected treats of fresh local eggs, home made biscuits, marmalade and ginger curd. Everything was tasteful and it was a pleasure to spend a few days there. Walked to the local village with our dog on public footpaths through the fields. Great pub with good food and great beer.

We had a warm welcome from the owners Charles and Kate. There were nice touches such as homemade marmalade, fresh eggs, cookies and milk in the fridge. A tray laid ready to make a cup of tea. It’s a lovely peaceful spot, we went for a short break with our two dogs and there are footpaths nearby so you don’t need to use the car. We had a lovely time and would thoroughly recommend to others wanting a break in the countryside.
