Suzanne is a wonderful host - very friendly and helpful. She greeted us with a home baked fruit cake which was lovely. The location is great - right on the edge of Howick Gardens and Arboretum. We were presented with a key to get into the gardens and arboretum through which we could walk to the coast in 15 minutes - a wonderful bonus. The cottage was very clean and the only reason I marked down the comfort was I found the double bed uncomfortable.

A warm welcome that included chocolate brownies. A good centre to explore the rest of the area including Alnwick castle , the Farne islands, Lindisfarne etc. Comfortable , clean, good to relax in at the end of the day. Probably no wifi , but we did not miss it!. One minor drawback was no razor point to recharge my electric tooth brush. How do men manage with electric shavers? I would go there again and recommend it. Our 8 year old grand daughter loved being on a working farm.

On a working farm near Howick Hall, 15 minutes walk from the beach via the hall's arboretum. Co-op shop 5 minutes drive away and Alnwick 15 minutes. Small and basic, especially the kitchen/diner. Might have been less successful in poor weather but our week was brilliant and we often barbequed outdoors in the spacious garden. Helpful owner and lovely friendly neighbours made us feel incredibly welcome.

The cottage is on a working farm, so the farmyard can be a busy place just outside the front door. Alnwick or alnmouth are the closest places with shops, which a short drive away. It has all the equipment needed for a stay away and is cosy and comfortable.
