Visit England 3 Star.\n\n These cottages one a Victorian double fronted detached house and the other the converted stables sit in the very heart of Windermere are tucked away behind the main thoroughfare and accessed by a narrow lane opening out into a small courtyard. Nowadays the horse and carriages have been exchanged for holidaymakers and the ancient buildings have been successfully converted to provide two most interesting cottages with all the desired 21st century facilities that we are so used to but wonderfully married with an Arts and Crafts style theme throughout perfectly in keeping with the buildings’ historic past. \nEach cottage has been carefully restored retaining characterful exposed beams panelling flooring and fireplaces whilst handpicked pieces of furniture from the turn of the 20th Century onwards have been sourced to complete the look and transport you back to a bygone era. Newly fitted shower rooms kitchens and good beds essential for a good nights rest are provided for your self catering stay and even at first glance Yew Tree and Stable Cottage present as two good quality holiday cottages of a certain style. One can’t help but feel immediately at ease as you enter these unique properties almost as one felt as a child when visiting Grandma’s house – charmed cosy and comfortable.     Absolute;y,loved this cottage! It is detached (private), warm, excellently equipped and we were able to watch Netflix/YouTube on the tv! There are previous reviews that mention the place looking dated - it is actually quite lovely to stay somewhere with such attention to detail, and the lack of contemporary fitting actually was a plus point for us. Everything works perfectly, inc;using WiFi, shower, electronics, washer, oven, etc. The patio is delightful, although we stayed for 3 weeks culminating in storm ciara, so no sunbathing for us! Lots of birds visit the garden, and you really do feel beautifully secluded and not overlooked. Can’t faint fault with this one, and we’ve done a few. And at the price point is it certainly the best we’ve experienced to date. Would strongly recommend. A lovely, characterful and pristine property, not to be scoffed at! Would recommend putting blinds in utility/boiler room, but that’s all.

    Lovely character cottage. Excellent location. Ideal for exploring as on bus link and only 20 min walk to bowness and jetty. Lots of quality places to eat and most dog friendly. Would recommend lamplight hotel for excellent evening meal and a place for the dog to go. Village has lots of places for breakfast and lunch where you can take your furry friends

    Stable Cottage is very central. It is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. Unfortunately the weather during our stay was very wet which meant we could not enjoy the beautiful garden. It is perhaps optimistic to say there are two parking spaces as the actual process of parking was very challenging due to lack of turning space.this was not a problem for us really and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would recommend it.

    We have been to this lovely cottage a couple of times now, it’s central location is excellent and the little sun trap is wonderful for sipping an evening glass of wine while barbecuing. We will be back!

    Excellent location, really lovely cottage with a beautiful garden. My dog really enjoyed her stay in the Lakes, it’s such a beautiful & dog friendly place.
