• About Torfern

A larger holiday property for a family or group of friends to enjoy the myriad activities, or simply relax and enjoy the views.

In a superb location with wonderful views towards Loch Linnhe, the Caledonian Canal, Fort William and the surrounding mountains, this spacious house, one of a pair, adjoins the owners’ seldom used holiday apartment and offers an ideal base for discovering the west coast of Scotland. The holiday property is decorated with a Christmas theme during the festive season.
The area is renowned for its outdoor pursuits, breathtaking scenery and abundant wildlife. Known as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’, activities include mountain biking, climbing, skiing, kayaking, walking, golf and fishing. Take a trip on the gondola up Aonach Mor or try the World Championship mountain bike course. For outdoor enthusiasts who like a challenge, why not take on Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain. On a clear day, the view is spectacular and you can see for miles. For steam train enthusiasts, catch the West Highland Steam Train to Mallaig, crossing the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct which featured in the Harry Potter films, (or watch it from the garden as it puffs past the house daily during the summer months). Alternatively, visit some of the unspoilt beaches, historic castles, museums, distilleries and magnificent gardens.
Boat trips to the inner isles are easily accessible, including Mull with its main, colourful, harbourside town, Tobermoray, also known as Balamory in the children’s TV series, Staffa and the cathedral like Fingal’s Cave, and Iona with its pristine white sands and famous abbey. Torfern is also ideally placed for touring with the bustling harbour town of Oban, Aviemore for winter sports, Inverness, Skye or monster spotting at Loch Ness all easily reached. Shop and pub 200 yards.

All perfect, as we’ve found the previous couple of years- fantastic views & great location. Very comfortable and superb garden for our two golden retrievers. Lovely welcome pack, which could only be improved by a small carton of milk in the fridge. Great place to stay and highly recommended

Torfern was excellent! The house has great facilities for all the family, the views are amazing, so peaceful and quiet. There are many places to walk and explore near by, super for doggies. The wee pub round the corner was very friendly and it was handy having the Co-op there too. We all had a fantastic time over the New Year and will definitely be back for another visit. Many Thanks Torfern from The Sutherland Family X

The photos of the house dont do it justice.its bigger and very well appointed. You wont be disapointed when you stay here.It snowed whilst we were here but at no time were we cold. The underfloor heating is great. You could also park 4 cars in the driveway if you needed to.All the rooms are really spacious and the ensuite rooms are very comfortable. We would not hesitate to re visit in the future. We didnt take our dogs this time but if we had the downstairs areas are all stone flooring which is easy to keep clean. The views across the lochs towards Ben nevis is superb.Another plus point to is the Coop 100 yds away for those forgotten items or sticky buns!!!!.This property is very peaceful.

Good property but not really dog friendly perhaps you could mention dogs are not to be exercised in the garden lawn areas yes there are great walks nearby but not at 4 in the morning also not allowed upstairs where the sitting room is as no tv area downstairs for all the family I spent my week on the downstairs level which Became a little tedious perhaps dogs accepted would be a more appropriate wording than welcomed
