Located on a quiet residential street, yet only a few minutes’ walk from Oban town centre, Torlochan has been thoughtfully renovated by the owners. A former family home, with special touches to reflect their family history, such as the pictures hanging on the walls. Throughout the cottage, there are beautifully co-ordinated soft furnishings which complement the modern interior. All on one level and designed for ease of access, there is a ramp to the rear door, extra wide doors and a walk-in shower. There is a small private area at the rear of Torlochan, with a natural cliff face and a small sitting out area to the front of the cottage.
Torlochan is situated on Glencruitten Road, just a short walk to shops, café and bars. Continue along Glencruitten Road, and you will come to Glencruitten Golf Course, a fine, hilly course, and Achnalarig Riding Stables. Further along the road, you will reach Glencruitten Estate, where there are some lovely walks with views over the town and countryside. The road leads onto a network of back roads, which lead to the stunning Glen Lonan to the East, Kilmore and Loch Nell to the South and Connel to the north.
A bustling west coast harbour town, Oban has lots going on for the visitor at any time of the year. Central for touring Argyll and known as the ’Gateway to the Isles’, with ferries leaving daily to many of islands, such as Mull, Iona, Staffa, Lismore. In keeping with its reputation as the seafood capital of Scotland, there are some excellent restaurants, cafés and pubs nearby, in which to relax after a pleasant day out exploring the wonderful scenery and visiting some of the interesting attractions which Argyll has to offer. There is a lovely sandy beach at Ganavan, just a mile’s drive along the coastal road. Dunollie, Dunstaffnage and Kilchurn castles are some of the nearby castles to visit as part of a day’s sightseeing. Further afield but within an hour’s drive, visitors can enjoy the scenery of Glencoe, take a trip to Fort William to see Ben Nevis or catch the Harry Potter train, or visit Inveraray Jail and Castle. Shop 150 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.
