Set in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park in an elevated position on a small working farm, Wester Laggan Cottage enjoys superb views across the Strathspey valley to the majestic Cairngorm mountain range. This lovely, detached, traditional old stone cottage still maintains many of its original features and makes a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the Highlands. Take a trip on the Strathspey Steam Railway and enjoy a scenic ride in the style of a bygone era, or follow the Strathspey Whisky Trail and visit some of the world’s most famous malt whisky distilleries for ’a wee dram’! Day trips to Balmoral Castle in Royal Deeside, Urqhuart Castle on Loch Ness and dolphin watching at Chanonry Point on the Moray Coast are also popular for days out. The area is renowned for its excellent climbing, mountain biking, canoeing, bird watching, skiing and hiking trails. Wildlife is abundant with red squirrels, capercaillie, osprey and golden eagles often spotted. There are popular and challenging golf courses, fly fishing on the River Spey, or for the younger family members, visit Highland Wildlife Park at Kincraig, the Highland Folk Museum, TreeZone and Landmark Forest Adventure Park. The attractive village of Dulnain Bridge has a restaurant and pub, whilst Grantown-on-Spey, 3 miles away offers a variety of shops, cafés, restaurants and bars. Inverness, the Highland capital, is less than an hour’s drive and Aviemore is only 11 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

A perfect base from which to explore the Cairngorms NP and the Moray coast. The owner, Colin, made us feel very welcome and the cottage provided everything that we needed.

Beautiful cottage with all the comforts of home and located in a beautiful part of Scotland. Lovely rural location, not over looked by anyone and very quiet. The cottage was furnished to a high spec with all the kitchen equipment you could ever need, including under floor heating and a log burning stove, with kindling and logs re-stocked when needed. WIFI was fast and much appreciated by my children. The owners were very welcoming. Could just do with a pub in walking distance !

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Wester Laggan Cottage. The cottage is very comfortable and well-fitted and particularly suited our extended family. The owner, Colin, couldn't have been more helpful. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and great for walking.

Brilliant cottage, definitely a home away from home. Fully equipped kitchen, good sized double bedrooms and spacious bathroom / ensuite. The views over the mountains were amazing. Good for families or group of friends, would highly recommend it.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It’s a fab cottage, very well equipped, spotlessly clean with a great view. Very relaxing and comfortable. There’s not much in the immediate locale to walk to though it’s a great area with Grantown on Spey 10 minutes away and Aviemore 20 minutes away. There’s lots to do in the vicinity. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful week in the Highlands and really enjoyed coming back to "our cottage" in the evenings. Perfect place for wildlife spotting. Lots of local walks and you can stock up in Grantown on Spey if you want to eat in. There were three adults in our party and the cottage is perfectly laid out to offer privacy with the bedrooms at opposite ends of the cottage. Colin couldn't be more friendly or helpful. No complaints whatsoever, the cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay and we hope to be back soon.

A fantastic week was had all round. The cottage was perfect and so well equipped. In fact I have never stayed anywhere before that had absolutely everything we needed, we didn’t need half the things we brought with us :). The location was beautiful and so close to all the local amenities you will need whilst on holiday. The farm animals and wildlife provided endless fascination for the children and they loved exploring the immediate surroundings. A week just wasn’t long enough to do everything as there is so much in the area and a short drive away as the cottage is ideally located in the Cairngorms. I can’t praise the cottage or the owners highly enough and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to others. We are already looking to book again next year and we haven’t even been home 24 hours yet :).

We really enjoyed our stay at Wester Laggan Cottage in Easter 2019. The cottage itself was just what we hoped for - excellent accommodation, great view, well equipped and clean. We got a warm welcome from the owner. There was lots to do in the area for our family. We’re looking forward to returning to the area and to Wester Laggan Cottage.

Wester Laggan Cottage is quite simply outstanding - located within beautiful countryside only a short journey to Aviemore (15 minutes), the cottage is everything that we could have asked for. Superb layout, excellent accommodation, very clean throughout and exceptionally comfy beds. 5 Star all round - thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome and a true "Home from Home".

We had a lovely week staying at Wester Laggan in October. The cottage is beautiful, set on a hillside above a small farm, with absolutely fantastic views for miles around, but still very convenient for discovering the area. Inside it absolutely immaculate, very tastefully renovated, designed and decorated, loved the mix of everything being brand new, especially the antler chandelier, whilst still retaining the original charm and features like the original fireplace, very cosy. We had a good chat with Colin, who called to check that everything was ok, and he told us all the interesting history of the cottage. With four children with us, ranging from 10-18, we took advantage of all the activities the area has to offer, including tree trekking, shooting and quad bikes at Rothiemurchus. We all really enjoyed the Aviemore Kart Raceway, good fun, even in the rain. We also had lovely, relaxing walks at Loch an Eilein and Loch Morlich, made bark boats to float on Loch Garten and investigated the quirky bridge in Carrbridge. We shopped and ate in various places in Aviemore. We had a light dusting of snow and brilliant sunshine on the day we were leaving, what a way to end a perfect week! Would definitely love to visit again!

What a fantastic base for a family holiday in the Speyside area. The cottage has been recently renovated to a fantastic standard. The kitchen is so well equipped and a joy to cook in. The wood burner is great and made the whole cottage so cosy. The owner is very friendly and approachable. We cannot fault anything about the cottage and plan to book again in 2019!
