Find alternative accommodation near the UK's top festivals

Here in the UK, we're lucky to host some incredible music festivals throughout the year, with a range of international singers, world-famous DJs, emerging artists, cult indie bands and soul legends all gracing the stage so we can sing and dance along, come rain or shine!

Of course, just because you're a music lover, doesn't mean you want to sleep on the floor of a tent for a whole weekend... or even longer in some cases. Not to mention those muddy fields, long shower queues, questionable toilet facilities and pricey food stalls. That's why we've put together a handy list of self-catering accommodation options close to the UK's best-loved music festivals, from glamping near Glastonbury to lodges near Latitude! So you can still enjoy the event, without compromising on comfort. All the other festival-goers will no doubt be wondering how you're looking so clean and well-rested, but that can stay our little secret...

Tip: All of these festivals allow you to exit and re-enter the site as long as you have a valid wristband, just be sure to check on any timing restrictions so you don't get caught out. For example, some festivals won't allow you to re-enter after midnight, or often earlier on the last evening. There may also be an option to buy a day ticket only, in which case you usually can't come back in if you leave.

Best place to stay for Glastonbury: Midsomer Lodges

Whether you're most likely to be found rocking out at the Other Stage, dancing to DJs in Silver Hayes, sampling some reggae at West Holts or singing along to the headline act on the Pyramid Stage, Worthy Farm's Glastonbury Festival is renowned for catering to all kinds of music lovers! Not to mention all those circus acts, comedy shows and cabaret performers to boot. It's also renowned for being one of the biggest music festivals in the world, which leads to some serious crowds, queues and noise - plus plenty of mud when it rains. If it all feels a bit much to stay onsite, why not book a bed at Midsomer Lodges instead - or up to three beds, to be precise. These stylish hot tub lodges, which sleep up to six people, not only offer incredible views across the Somerset countryside, but they're only five minutes' drive from Worthy Farm (although please do allow extra time for festival traffic!)

Best place to stay for Reading Festival: The Springs Resort and Spa

The highlight of the summer season for many, Reading Festival is a firm favourite on the UK music festival calendar, known for showcasing the latest international singers and bands, as well as legendary rock, pop, hip hop and indie acts. As the name suggests, it's held in Reading, Berkshire, which is easily accessible on a 30-minute train journey from London. The festival has a somewhat rowdy reputation, so we wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to camp overnight here or bring young children. If you do want to attend with kids and are concerned about it becoming overwhelming for them - or you - this is one of the festivals that offers day tickets, so you could simply pick your favourite line-up day and attend then, before retreating to a nearby holiday home, such as The Springs Resort and Spa. Not only would this be a great place to spend the night inbetween festival days, but it's also a fabulous location to enjoy your August bank holiday weekend if you are just going to Reading for one day. Even better - it's only 25 minutes' drive from the festival grounds, and there's an onsite spa and golf course for some much-needed R&R.

Best place to stay for Leeds Festival: Wighill Manor Lodges

Leeds Festival - or "Leeds Fest" as it tends to be known - is Reading's northern counterpart, with the same line-up, just with performances on different days. Just like Reading, the major music festival is held annually on the August bank holiday weekend, with some 90,000 attendees flocking to Bramham Park near Wetherby in West Yorkshire to catch huge headline acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters. It's generally not considered to be the right environment for families with very young kids, especially in terms of camping, but it's very popular with teenagers and adults of all ages. Having your own accommodation offsite, somewhere like Wighill Manor Lodges, would certainly help alleviate some of the stress if you do want to attend as a family, or even if you simply don't want to face the late-night crowds and noise that is often reported. These luxurious Yorkshire hot tub lodges, 20 minutes' drive from Leeds Festival, are the perfect place to soak tired feet and aching muscles after a long day of walking, standing and dancing!

Best place to stay for the Isle of Wight Festival: Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat

Now, unless you live on the island, you're probably going to be staying over for at least one night for the Isle of Wight Festival, whether you choose the full weekend ticket or just a day ticket. The music festival - which is one of the oldest in the UK - usually takes place in June, at Seaclose Park in Newport, right in the heart of the Isle of Wight. You'll need to catch the ferry from one of the four mainlaind ports at Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington or Southsea, and if you're not taking your car, there are plenty of bus options once you're on the island. In terms of where to base yourself so you can have a good night's sleep away from the festival grounds, we'd love nothing more than to tuck ourselves away in the magical treehouse at Woodside Bay Lodge Retreat - the perfect glamping adventure for two! The beachside resort, which also has a range of larger lodges sleeping 4-8 people (some with private hot tubs) is only 15 minutes' drive from the festival, and guests can get discounted ferry tickets.

Best place to stay for Kendal Calling: Lowther Park

Known for its diverse mix of music and beautiful Lake District setting, Kendal Calling is a summer weekend festival held in an ancient deer park, just 25 minutes' drive north of Kendal. Part of its appeal, aside from getting to visit Cumbria, is how well it caters to both children and adults, from the dedicated 'Kids Calling' area with theatre shows, circus workshops and other activities for little ones, to the incredible line-up of big-name artists like Fat Boy Slim, the Kaiser Chiefs and The Prodigy. The festival is held on the Lowther Estate and doesn't offer day tickets, which means a full weekend of camping if you're staying onsite. There's a great alternative though, just on the other side of the Lowther Estate, and that's Lowther Park. The holiday park, which offers classic caravans and contemporary lodges, is surrounded by woodlands and set on a riverbank, providing a tranquil home-away-from-home for festival-goers big and small.

Best place to stay for Download Festival: The King's Moor Retreat

This one's for the rock and metal fans! Situated right in the centre of England, where the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire meet, Download Festival is synonymous with hard rock and heavy metal, attracting both emerging artists and legendary bands for a weekend of headbanging. If you're keen to rest those necks in a proper bed, look no further than The King's Moor Retreat, which offers a selection of holiday pods just 15 minutes' drive from the festival grounds. The lodges are located behind a pub, and each one has its own private hot tub, ideal for relaxing before or after those gigs!

Best place to stay for Creamfields: Delamere Lake Sailing and Holiday Park

Another one for the August bank holiday weekend, this time up in the Cheshire countryside, is electronic dance music festival Creamfields. Situated in Daresbury, a small village just outside of Warrington - between Manchester and Liverpool - the 4-day event sees the likes of Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta and Chase & Status grace the stage. When it comes to tickets, there are flexible options, meaning you could choose to book day tickets for various combinations of one, two or three days, or the full weekend camping ticket. For those who would prefer their own base away from the festival, why not book one of the luxury lodges or holiday homes at Delamere Lake Sailing and Holiday Park? Nothing will wake you up quite like a fresh morning swim in the lake, and the private hot tub is the perfect place to relax and stargaze after dancing all day at the festival.

Best place to stay for Latitude Festival: Hill Farm Retreat

Heading to Suffolk in summer for a magical woodland adventure filled with music, comedy, poetry dance and more? Then you're no doubt going to Latitude Festival. Transforming Henham Park into a playground for children and adults every year in July, the increasingly-popular event celebrates the best of music and the arts, and even has its own wellness area and a lake for paddleboarding. Upgrade from camping to glamping and stay at Hill Farm Retreat, an easy 25 minutes' walk from the festival site, and only 10 minutes' drive from the pretty seaside town of Southwold. The quirky pods here cater to both couples and small families, and each have their own own private garden area with a hot tub.

Best place to stay for Boardmasters: Newquay Bay Resort

Whether you're a surfer, a skater or just here to soak up the beach vibes, the beautiful scenery of Boardmasters is enough to tempt anyone to the Cornish coast - not that it takes much persuading! Originally a surfing competition in the 80s, the unique festival has since expanded to include an impressive musical line-up, plus other activities like skateboarding and BMX biking. The main arena is located at the scenic Watergate Bay in Newquay, while the surfing competitions take place at the iconic Fistral Beach - one of the best beaches in Cornwall. Not only does the festival offer day tickets, but they also offer weekend no-camping tickets, giving you even more flexibility if you do want to find your own accommodation. We've got plenty of holiday parks and lodges in Cornwall to choose from, but staying at Newquay Bay Resort will put you less than two miles away from Watergate Bay. Onsite facilities include both indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna and steam room, and a kids' play area.

Best place to stay for Camp Bestival: Osmington Mills Lodge Park

One of the biggest and best family-friendly music festivals in the UK is undoubtedly Camp Bestival, which takes place in late July or early August in the grounds of Lulworth Castle in Dorset. As well as big bands like Basement Jaxx, Tom Jones and the Sugababes, there are also dedicated children's acts including Mr Tumble, Horrible Histories, and Dick and Dom. If you've got little ones with you and you're worried the whole weekend may be too much, you can buy day tickets instead of a weekend pass. Our pick to stay nearby - allowing you to skip the camping element - would be Osmington Mills Lodge Park. Nestled within a wooded valley near the coast, just 20 minutes' drive from Camp Bestival, the park offers a range of 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom lodges, some with their own hot tubs. There are also amenities like a beer garden, outdoor heated pool and children's play area, meaning there's still plenty to keep you entertained when you're not at the festival. Dorset's iconic Durdle Door is also only 20 minutes' drive from the park, or 10 minutes' drive from Camp Bestival.

Best place to stay for Green Man Festival: Brecon Beacons Resort

Another great choice for families - although also popular with couples and groups of friends - Green Man Festival is an independent music, science and arts festival in Wales's beautiful Brecon Beacons. Usually taking place in August, and with a capacity of around 25,000 people, the festival celebrates emerging artists and alternative acts. Previous headliners have included the likes of Laura Marling, Fontaines D.C. and Van Morrison. If you're keen to attend but would prefer to stay offsite, we recommend Brecon Beacons Resort. It's around 40 minutes' drive from the festival, but is well worth it for the beautiful setting and first-class facilities. The charming cottages here are part of our Daisy Door collection, and offer a tranquil setting to rest and re-charge inbetween festival days.

Best place to stay for Rock The Lakes: Tattershall Lakes Country Park

This one is a bonus entry, as it just so happens that one of our holiday parks hosts its very own music festival! Rock the Lakes is an annual event at Tattershall Lakes Country Park, one of our most popular holiday parks, surrounded by lakes and woodlands in the Lincolnshire countryside. The festival, which usually takes place over a weekend in June, is designed with families in mind, with a variety of performances from renowned tribute acts to popular radio DJs. The festival is open to guests staying at the park, making it easy to rock and roll out of bed. There's a choice of contemporary caravans and luxurious hot tub lodges that can sleep the whole family - including the dog! While you're staying onsite, you can also make the most of facilities like an indoor heated pool, gym, spa, outdoor cinema, open-air bar, children's play area and more.

Enjoy that fresh festival feeling

So there we have it, our top places to stay near UK music festivals, allowing you to feel fresh and well-rested for a weekend of dancing and making memories with friends and family. Don't let the fear of having to sleep in a tent keep you from having some fun in the fields watching your favourite acts!
