The cottage is on a small working farm and offers guests the opportunity of sampling life in typical rural Lakeland.  Grasmere village is a short stroll away and offers a good selection of interesting tea shops and galleries as well as a co-op store and an excellent bakery for everyday provisions. \nBuilt in the 19th Century the cottage is delightfully presented with original flagged floors oak beams and original gas lights now converted to electric and these features have been combined with pretty decor and hand picked accessories depicting the famous writers this fantastic location inspired.     As a family of four with two young children, we had a great week at 3 Townhead Cottage. The location, approx 1.5 miles from Grasmere suited us perfectly. Fells are on your doorstep, there is a back garden and the kids enjoyed seeing the farm animals. The town is easily accessible but we felt we were sufficiently far away from the daily bustle. The small kitchen was sufficient for us as we weren’t planning any lavish meals and the Nespresso machine a welcome accessory. We were happy with our choice of this authentic feeling Cumbrian cottage.
