Conveniently located and within a few minutes’ walk of the centre of the village this lovely detached holiday house is an ideal base from which to explore and savour the delights of the Cotswolds much of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. With the sparkling and swiftly flowing River Windrush racing through the broad expanse of village green the ’Venice of the Cotswolds’ as Bourton is referred to is a treat for visitors no matter what time of year. With its graceful low stone bridges spanning the small river at intervals the centre of the village is picture postcard perfect throughout the seasons. The Roman road and the Fosse Way is a major access route running across the area taking the visitor from Moreton-in-Marsh in the north to Cirencester in the south. Local Bourton attractions include the Model Village Motor Museum and Birdland. We were a mixed age group. Downstairs facilities ideal for elderly, very comfortable bed & great bathroom for Dad 87. All of the other bedroom were ideal too. Great kitchen with everything we needed. 2 fridges- very thoughtful. Washing machine/ tumble dryer/ freezer/ huge dining table & great comfy sofas- very close to Bourton-on-the-Water, great Co-Op close by. The Chip Shed has lovely fish & chips to take out. Small Talk cafe was excellent too. Not forgetting the Ladies in the Edinburgh Wool shop- more than helpful. Margaret from Alderley House was especially helpful both before & after our visit. We hope to return, thank you.

Fabulous property, and all of the family enjoyed their stay in well appointed bedrooms.Family members all said that they would book Alderley House for future celebrations.Would definitely recommend this lovely property & Steve and Margaret were great hosts, and they had obviously put much thought into all of the amenities and furnishings. We will certainly book again.

Wonderful place for a large family gathering. Everything you could need for entertaining. Very large comfortable beds with 4 en-suite bathrooms. Owners were lovely and felt like their home not just a property rental. Will definitely return.

Had a fantastic stay at this cottage and have booked to return next year it was that good

Our group of 7 adults spent a week at Alderley House in Autumn 2019. It was pretty much ideal for us as each one of the 4 bedrooms was en-suite. I gave it 9 out of 10 rather than 10 for comfort as we found the sofas somewhat uncomfortable, but this was only a minor inconvenience. There was plenty of space to sit round and chat, both on the sofas and around the large dining table. All of the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable. The location was great as we could easily walk into Bourton on the Water to visit the many lovely shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, and it was an ideal base for visiting many other attractions in the Cotswolds.

Alderley House is a large house, situated on the outskirts of Bourton - on - the - Water, and ideally located when visiting this part of the Cotswolds. Our group, which consisted of six persons, were pleased with the house and the attention of the joint owner Margaret who was there to welcome us to the property at our preferred time of arrival. Everything was there to make it a 'home from home', making us entirely satisfied with our stay.

There were only 3 of us in the cottage, but it would have been comfortable for many more. We received a warm welcome - the scones jam and cream were delicious. One day we chose to stay in and appreciated the jigsaws we found along with other games and books. An excellent holiday. Thank you.

    Great holiday location. Lovely owners.

This is the third year running that our family of seven adults and a dog have booked a week at Alderley House. It is perfectly located a 10-15 minute walk from the bustling town of Bourton on the Water, yet is situated in a quiet residential area. There are numerous countryside walks from the property and the Cotswold towns of Stow, Buford and Broadway are only a short drive away. The house is nicely furnished and decorated and the kitchen is fully equipped. The separate utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer and freezer. The four en suite bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable. Outside there are lovely sitting areas with ample cushions for the seats. The hosts, Margaret and Steve are helpful and charming and kindly provide a welcome pack and plenty of little extras such as hand soaps and cleaning equipment. I would highly recommend this lovely house.
