Allium is a charming stone built single storey cottage snuggled in the friendly hamlet of Tynely just a few miles inland from the seaside village of Beadnell. This delightful property sits at the end of a small terrace of three others and simply oozes charm. Following a full makeover, the property is now furnished to a very high standard throughout. The accommodation is conveniently on one level with only one step leading from the contemporary and sleek kitchen and fresh bathroom up to the living/dining room and both bedrooms. A wood burning stove in the lounge makes Allium a cosy choice regardless of the season and a French door enhances the bright and airy ambience, and where three steps lead onto a large patio and spacious garden. There are magnificent views from the kitchen overlooking farm fields and the sea. There are many beautiful walks and bike rides which can be taken directly from the property. No need to use your car, just don your boots and explore!

Only five miles towards the coast is the well known holiday destination of Beadnell, which offers local facilities including a village shop and family friendly pubs serving good food. Beadnell Bay is a glorious stretch of golden sandy beach and can truly be described as the jewel in Northumberland’s seaside crown; idyllic for a romantic barefoot stroll in the sand to listen to the waves lap against the shoreline and inhale the invigorating sea air... It’s also popular for watersports enthusiasts, try sailing, sea kayaking, wind surfing and scuba diving. A small sandy bay speckled with rocky outcrops leads to a long sandy beach which stretches two miles to the traditional fishing port of Seahouses where boat trips to the nearby Farne Islands, famous for its bird sanctuaries and seal colony, depart regularly from its harbour. Seahouses offers several charming tea rooms, amusements and shops with horse riding; fishing and golf on the links close by being only a sample of the many amenities available in this popular location. A further three miles up the coastline is the picturesque village of Bamburgh, which lies snuggled in the shadow of its majestic fortress and commands the power and presence of the seasoned television set it regularly becomes. Holy Island – the birthplace of Christianity and site of Lindisfarne Castle, can be seen from the unspoilt golden, sandy beach. The bustling market town of Alnwick, with its own dramatic castle (and film location for Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Academy!) is only seven miles south west of Allium. Visitors will enjoy a trip to Alnwick Garden, a spectacular interpretation of a formal garden including the Grand Cascade waterfall and restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe!

Allium is an excellent choice for those seeking a well presented coastal retreat to rest and refresh with easy access to one of the most glorious beaches in Northumberland, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We had a great week at Alium despite some unpredictable ‘summer’ weather!! Great location for exploring the coast and a lovely cottage with everything you could possibly need. Peaceful and a great garden to sit in and enjoy any sunshine!

The location of Alium cottage meant that we could travel north, south, east and west straight away, without having to travel long distances along minor roads. It is within easy reach of Alnwick, Bamburgh, Holy Island, and beautiful beaches. Berwick, the Borders, Etal and Ford, Rothbury and Morpeth are also not difficult to get to. A very comfortable and clean cottage. Instructions to find the cottage were also very clear.

A wonderful cottage with everything you need for your stay. Easy access from the A1 and only a short drive to the coast with Seahouses, Beadnell, Alnwick and Holy Island close by. You have a distant seaview from the back and the owners are extremely helpful and friendly. A great place to stay - I'm sure we will be back.

Really enjoyed our week's stay here. The cottage had everything we needed including a lovely log fire, and the rooms are more spacious than they appear in the online pictures. It's tastefully furnished, the kitchen is well-equipped, good bathroom and bedroom, nice touches like a decent selection of DVD's, lots of firewood, and plenty of guides about the area. There's a lovely view from the kitchen across fields to the coast, and the garden also looked really nice although too cold for us on our visit. It's also very well located, a couple of minutes from the A1 - we did a day trip to Edinburgh - but also easy to get to the local beaches and on quiet roads so we found it really easy and enjoyable to cycle. Didn't try the local Packhorse Inn but it looked good and I appreciated the advance call from the owners saying hi and giving us the Inn a a local tip. Neighbours were friendly and parking was no problem with 1 car. It was more than enough space for us as a couple and would probably work for a group of 4. Seahouses and Alnwick are both very easy to get to for facilities. Can't find anything to fault, and would definitely consider using this as a base on a return visit.
