Comfortable well equipped cottage, nicely decorated. Appreciated the little extras such as games, books and lots of local information including walks. Cockermouth is a lively town with lots of good cafes and restaurants.

Four of us stayed here for 4 days and enjoyed every minute. Everything is clean and beautifully decorated. It’s close to Main Street but tucked away on a quiet Main Street. Backyard has a private backyard and a place to sit in the sun. The only issue might be the two minute walk to the car park but parking is free and the permit can be used in other nearby locations.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is in a great location. Good pubs and eateries nearby. Sainsbury’s just around the corner for all your self catering needs. The neighbours are also friendly. The cottage is tastefully decorated. We would stay again.

The cottage was well stocked and a quick trip to the shops a short walk we were settled. The cottage had everything and more we were more than happy. And the walks with the dogs were amazing. We found the Bitter end pub very cosy and the food great. The only thing was unloading and loading the car in such a narrow street but otherwise it was okay.

Had a fabulous short break at Applegarth. A beautiful house, tastefully decorated and extremely well-equipped. Only difficulty was finding the car-park and the panic of unloading the car while blocking the street! Obviously, this couldn’t be helped but not great for guests with mobility problems. Had a lovely family getaway though - dog enjoyed the park and my 15 year-old actually put her phone down to participate in board games!

Loved this cottage. Definitely a home from home. Beds extremely comfortable and the wood burning fire certainly adds to the appeal. Local restaurants are lovely and all within walking distance.

The cottage was located within walking distance of the bars and shops, which was handy. It was clean, cosy and spacious. The area was quiet and peaceful too. We were only left 4 logs for the fire, which is not reflective of a 2 night stay. There was a shed full of logs but we were not provided with the key to access it. There were problems getting the heating on too as the instructions in the manual provided said to override the heating to turn it on but no instructions of how to do this. A heating engineer had to show us how get the heating on, which required buttons pressing at the boiler as well as the temperature gauge being altered on the stairs. We were very cold for a while until the heating engineer was able to assist. We were a little disappointed, cold and inconvenienced considering we'd paid over £100/night for the accommodation.

A lovely, well-equipped cottage set just off the main street of this terrific little town. The parking was a great bonus and although the street the cottage is on was a bit busier than we expected, we were able load & unload the car without any problems. The cottage has all the equipment that could possibly be required for a holiday & more. The log burner was a great hit, especially as the cottage was freezing when we arrived & it took us a while to work out the heating. The Christmas decorations were a nice touch too. The only small negative for us is the absence of a small welcome package - milk etc. When you have travelled a distance or even been stuck in traffic, to have to go & source milk could be a pain, especially if you arrive late at night. I appreciate there are shops quite close by but it would be a nice finishing touch.
