Within walking distance of the tidal estuary foreshore, Minffordd’s village which is situated on the A487 road between Porthmadog and Penrhyndeudraeth, and in the community of the latter. The village has two adjacent railway stations, which are served both by Cambrian Line mainline train services and the narrow gauge Ffestiniog Railway. Also, Ffestiniog Railway station where the trains, hauled by the world’s most powerful narrow gauge steam locomotives, climb from sea level to over 650ft on the foothills of Snowdon, before zig-zagging dramatically down the steep hillside to reach Beddgelert, nestling in the heart of the National Park, then through the magnificent Aberglaslyn Pass and on to Porthmadog.

Dating back to the 13th century, the castle was built during the reign of Edward I for £8,190 making one of the cheapest of Edward’s castles in Wales. Harlech castle town with the theatre showing quality concerts and has sandy beaches close by.
