My husband, my Mum and I had a wonderful week at Ashlea. it is the best self catering cottage we've stayed in. great location, very rural and private but, at the same time, very close to the main road into Barnard Castle. it is very spacious and well laid out. very clean and well equipped (& I cook!). the hosts, Ann & Graham, we very welcoming and friendly, without being intrusive. I would recommend it to anyone - couple(s) or family. we would love to go back and only wish we'd booked for two weeks not one.

Very comfortable cottage, fully equipped. Very warm welcome from owners who are readily available if required. We felt that the cottage was a home from home for us, set in a beautiful area with access both to the "hidden gem" of Teesdale and the surrounding upland areas. Easy access to the delightful market town of Barnard Castle. We enjoyed a second very relaxing fortnight here.

This was a soul refreshing and effectively secluded spot. Peaceful and beautiful. The weather was straight from the med, but it wouldn't have made a difference. There is a well stocked DVD option for television entertainment and the added bonus of the conservatory provides that extra space and opportunity for a retreat to undertake another activity of family choice. Healthy countryside fresh air opportunity to explore and, for us time to be sharing special time with family living locally. A super large kitchen with plenty of room for use, and no request to the owners to much, who we sensed would have gone out of their way to help if necessary. Freshly made bread on arrival! Thank you for such a relaxing few days.

Lovely well equipped cottage every thing you needed, great views, peaceful and comfortable. Warm welcome from Anne when we arrived explained everything about the cottage, and a loaf of lovely homemade bread made by Anne was there for us, which we throughly enjoyed. We all enjoyed or short stay, hopefully will visit again.

Ashlea is a well appointed cottage in a peaceful rural location. Everything you need for a comfortable stay! The owners, Ann and Graham, were very helpful and the tea cake on arrival was much appreciated! We recommend this beautiful cottage which is situated in a good location for great walks, pubs, tea shops plus the city of Durham.
