The cottage dates from at least 1724 and was built with a timber frame and wattle and daub construction. It has a thatched roof original low beamed ceilings and is painted with lime wash throughout. The living room hosts a wood burner. The original property was extended at both ends and became two cottages and in the 1970s the current owner reverted it back to one larger cottage. What a wonderful location! The cottage is in one corner of the churchyard, a few steps from Avebury Manor and 30 seconds from the stone circle and henge. The cottage is 17th century in part, with low beams (hit my head a few times) and uneven floors, but that's part of the charm. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the wifi is amazing. I would happily stay here again.
