Excellent holiday hone to explore the Dales, with modern facilities and doggy friendly. If there was one thing I would recommend is access to the vacuum cleaner.

Comfy and well equipped but pet owners beware! The 'enclosed garden' is not actually attached to the house. To reach it you have to cross a track used as vehicle access to several other properties and then pass through the carport and a gate. No chance of letting your fourlegge friend out unaccompanied!

Third stay in this lovely cottage, well equipped with friendly local pub. Shame the storage heaters hadn’t been turned on the night before arrival so a cold first day.

Barn Cottage is lovely and very conveniently placed for everything I wanted (Dales, Cumbria border, Harrogate). I couldn't Give a totally perfect score because, although clean, it wasn’t scrupulously clean (I spotted cobwebs and I am terrified of spiders). Also, the kitchen equipment (oven trays) need updating. I bought some disposable foil trays. My last issue, (but this is nothing to do with the cottage), was a pretty unpleasant neighbour, who more or less accused me of taking photos to “case properties” for burglaries!! I am nearly 60 years old and I really didn’t think that I gave off a criminal vibe!! I offered to show him the photos, so that he could delete any that he was unhappy about...he declined. The photos were just generally of the village, cricket pitch etc. All in all though, a fantastic short break in a delightful cottage.

Barn Cottage, was beautifully clean, with good furnishings and homely touches. It could have been perfect except for the dreadful heating or should I say lack of heating. We arrived on what turned out to be the coldest night of the winter only to find a freezing cottage with no heating on. The storage heaters had not been turned on and we could not access heat from them because of a timing switch. This only came on at midnight and had not been turned back on the previous day. There were two mobile oil heaters and we had to carry on upstairs to put in the absolutely freezing bedroom. When the storage heaters eventually came on at midnight they really were not adequate enough, they definitely needed urgent replacement except the landing one. There is no heating at all in the kitchen so we had to move an oil heater into there. This cottage had everything going for it and could have been wonderful but the lack of even adequate heating at the coldest time of year spoiled our stay, therefore for that reason I could reluctantly not recommend it

We really enjoyed our four day break in Barn Cottage which was short of nothing we wanted and a very friendly pub right next door. Nice walks with the dog around the village and plenty to do in the surrounding area. All in all a cottage we will use again.

We had the best time staying at Barn Cottage for 3 nights. It’s pefectly placed for exploring Yorkshire and the pub next door is so friendly and serves the best food! My only issue was that the tumble dryer wasn’t working which wouldn’t normally be an issue however my 5 year old daughter was unfortunately quite poorly on our first night and we needed to wash her bed linen and had no means to dry it as there was no airers or washing line and the tumble dryer was broken. What I would like to say is a massive thankyou however to the staff at Yorkshire Cottages who handle the care of Barn Cottage who were so prompt, professional and understanding in helping us deal with the issue and organised dry linen for us immediately. We will definitely be coming back to this cottage and loved our stay! Highly recommend the Wensleydale Creamery and Asgarth Falls for a nice day out.
