Our 2nd visit looking forward to another one. Grapes Hotel in village fab for meals only open from 5pm off peak. Can take dogs in at the bar. Lodge lovely place to recharge batteries. Tesco's supermarket 10 min drive at Castle Douglas. Owners Jon & Abby very hospitable, nice welcome pack of goodies. Well equipped very clean property. Downstairs en an appreciated due to poor mobility. Property spacious & tastefully decorated. We found central heating adequate without using the log fire in the living room.

A really nice cottage with a lot of things included that you don't get with other places. Free logs and welcome pack and a personal welcome greeting. So secluded and so restful good for walking, relaxing and barbeques.

We had an amazing holiday. The cottage was clean, well equipped and very cozy. With 4 adults and 2 children, there was plenty of room for all of us. There was plenty to do all within a 20 minute drive. Would definitely return in the future.

Beautiful lodge. Very well equipped with everything you could need. Comfortable bed. The ensuite shower could do with a heated towel rail as very cool in there only small problem.

Beautiful house, clean tidy. Home from home with everything you need. Small comment or improvement would be to supply a dog lead anchor in the garden so dogs could move around freely with out being on a short lead. If I'd have thought about it before we came I would have brought one. The owners are very friendly and will bring extra wood if required. We built dens in the garden/woods and met the friendly pheasant everyday. Lovely holiday, lovely cottage would love to come back.

Arrived to a very clean well appointed cottage,in a nice quiet area.Enjoyed the quaint character and charm of the lodge, the log burner being a definite plus, found all supplied towels bedding etc to be of good quality and nice and fresh adding even further to the charm of the place. Its a short drive to the nearest town (Castle Douglas)for a major super market, however this doesn't detract, as typically like ourselves most people will be out all day soaking up the scenery the local area has to offer,All in All Excellent.

Beautiful cottage, clean and warm, the log fire every night made it so cosy. Abby the owner came to visit us to check we had every thing we needed and also arranged for extra logs to be delivered. Welcome bottle of Prosecco and box of shortbread on arrival was a lovely surprise. Beds very comfortable and there were lots of extras in the kitchen, condiments, herbs, bin liners, clingfilm etc that I need not have packed. Lots of things to do in the area and only a short drive to Castle Douglas were there is a large Tesco for any items you may want to stock up on plus the high street with good local butchers and bakers. Highly recommended.

A lovely cottage near to the village but far away enough to offer peace and quiet, the property is clean, well maintained, comfortable and warm. The owners kindly popped round one evening to check everything was ok, although it was November when we were there we still saw lots of wildlife, I should imagine in summer it would be even better. We didn't find a lot to do on the doorstep but within a 20 - 30 minute drive there are plenty of interesting places to visit, we particularly liked the Galloway forest. Thanks Abby and Jon for the welcome bottle of wine and shortbread, we enjoyed our stay and would come back again,
