Lovely cosy cottage in a nice location. On a working farm but not disturbed at all. You can walk out the front door and have a choice of lovely walks. 3 pubs all within walking distance but the best was The Bills Head which is literally a 30 second walk from the cottage. Lovely food and super welcoming. Matlock and Matlock Bath are worth a drive which takes about 20 minutes. Really homely feel to the cottage and felt lovely and snug when the weather wasn’t being too kind and we could get the wood burner going! Didn’t find the parking to be an issue at all which some have mentioned and we had 4x4 so don’t let that put you off. Will definitely be visiting again as fell in love with the cottage and the location. You won’t be disappointed.

This is the second time we have stayed at Barnes Cottage, we like the cottage because it a ggod size, located right in the centre of the village close to some really lovely walks. Bakwell is only about 10 mins away by car which is a lovely town, you have to try the pastie shop the best pasties we have ever had. I read that some people complained that it was difficult to drive down the lane and parking was tight. All I would say to that is if your a competent driver there is nothing difficult about the lane or parking. very wide trackers use the lane with ease. All together a lovely place to stay, we will definately be back again.

This was my second stay in this lovely cottage and again I felt "at home" here. It is kept beautifully warm all day long, and there is adequate logs supplied for a whole week to keep the log burner going in the evening. The bed was very comfortable (most important) Everybody we met in the village were very friendly and the pubs all supply very good food.

A lovely well equipped cottage in a beautiful location

Lovely cottage in a great location - a very generous welcome pack was included and detailed instructions on how to work everything in the property. Youlgreave is a great location with shops and pubs within easy walking distance but still with a rural feel. We particularly recommend The Bull's Head for food. People in the village were very friendly and there are some lovely walks around the area and this was a lovely getaway break.

Very well equipped and furnished. Access a bit awkward if you don't have a smallish car. Can be a bit of noise early mornings from vehicles in and out of the farm next door - but nothing particularly disturbing. Early morning dog barking, even though not every morning, was more annoying.

Second stay here. Excellent location with good shops and pubs. Location not far from lovely walks and the various trails. Would recommend!

In 40+ years of using this company I can honestly say that this is one of the best places we have stayed. Everything was perfect and the welcome pack was the best we have ever recieved. I think there was more Portmerion china in the property than our John Lewis stocks! Local neighbours on call 24/7 to help is a wonderful asset.

Ideal location for walking. Lovely welcome including a beautiful post of flowers. Cosy and comfortable and the wood fired stove was brilliant for the cooler evenings.

A beautiful and cosy cottage ideally located in the centre of the village. We parked the car at the front of the cottage and only used it again when we left. Fantastic walks from the door, in all directions. We used the local buses to visit Bakewell and Matlock, which was a lovely scenic trip. The owners/caretakers live next door, so are available if needed. The cottage has been well thought out, with a lovely big porch to store coats and shoes. The appliances in the kitchen are top of the range. The cottage was warm and cosy, with loads of hot water and a very comfortable bed. What more could you want! Three pubs and two shops within 5 minutes walk.
