Set in the countryside on a traditional working farm this area offers some of the most wonderful landscapes in the region from the privacy of a secluded rural setting. It is minutes from Lake Ullswater with its walking water sports and ponderous steamers making their regal-like journeys up and down the lake in the shadow of the majestic fells. This area offers many forms of recreation whatever season you choose to visit. All three cottages have been tastefully converted from original old stone farm buildings and wherever possible the original features have been retained. Old pitch pine beams stretch unhindered through bedrooms and across stairways and the local slate and sandstone are in evidence throughout. Guests are welcomed with fresh flowers along with well furnished comfortable holiday accommodation wood-burning stoves and well-equipped kitchens. For good walking fells nearby include High Street range 1 mile and Helvellyn 10 miles. The market town of Penrith 5 miles whilst the attractions of Keswick are 14 miles. Shops pubs and restaurants ½ mile." https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/424/840/424488.jpg B6063

Great place to stay. It was comfortable and homely and we did a lot of walking and sightseeing. However, had we known that the road at Pooley Bridge was closed, we wouldn’t have booked as it meant a long diversion .

A lovely cottage just outside of Pooley Bridge. It is a short walk from the river, and only a 15 minute or so walk into the town. It is very quiet and peaceful. Comfortable sofas and bed, and all the equipment you expect. The only comments I would make are to note that towels are not included by default, and the shower doesn’t have a screen, so if you prefer showers to baths, you just need to be a little careful not to soak the room. They are minor points for information only. Not whiney complaints.

There were many qualities to this property, including a lovely master bedroom and cosy living room. The area is beautiful and peaceful. The welcome was friendly and the cake and fresh flowers a lovely touch. We did feel however that there were various things that let it down. The bath is in urgent need of updating and has issues with the pipes banging very loudly. When trying to use the shower spray it is impossible to control the temperature which is dangerously hot, the noise is terrible and there is no screen so the water goes everywhere, The radiator is rusty and sadly the general cleanliness was not good. In the kitchen the cooker had seen better days and the paint/trim was peeling. There was a set of new white plates and nice mugs but all the other crockery was crazed old and mismatched. The sink and draining rack was very dirty and there were food spills down the cupboard. On this occasion although the beds were immaculate it didn't appear that the rest of the house work had been done. The log burner had not been emptied and the flue appeared to be broken so we didn't use it. We had a relaxing stay as the area is so beautiful and it is a lovely farm and buildings, but we didn't feel that the accommodation was as described.

We stayed for a week and were welcomed with a lovely homemade cake! The barn was small but comfortable with everything we needed to cater for young children. But you need to bring your own towels. It was about a 15 mins walk to Pooley bridge through fields, so not pram friendly etc. Pooley bridge is a fantastic location for exploring the lakes and if you have children definately recommend Lowther Castle & Acorn Bank (NT). The barn owners were very friendly and we loved the bulls & cows that lived there too. All in all a lovely stay.

We had a lovely quiet break here. A great walk across fields to the village amenities and lake. Ullswater is a perfect location for a family holiday. Cottage rustic and cosy, hosts welcoming and kids loved being on a farm.

Super cosy cottage in excellent location with short walk to local village and lake. Lovely to wake up on a farm with fantastic views. Great location for exploring the lake district. Only improvement would be to mount shower on wall with screen if possible
