wonderful stay at Beckside. Very homely and comfortable cottage with everything you need. Beautiful tended gardens with a beck running down the side of the property. Lots of walks easily accessed straight from the front door. Will definately be returning soon

The very fact that we have returned to this property many times over the years speaks for itself.Beautiful setting, a real home from home. Many walks straight from the front door.Addition of the new log burner is excellent as much more fuel efficient. Always greatly enjoy our time at Beckside. Would highly recommend.

My ratings may seem confusing so I will explain. The position of the property is wonderful there is a mountain stream tumbling down the hillside only 5 yds from the door. The views from the front windows are fantastic. However, this is not a property for elderly or disabled people and all three of our party are over 80 and my wife also has mobility problems. It is clearly a very old building and there are steps were you would not expect steps and at times it seems like an obstacle course. The downstairs toilet facilities are as far as the can be from the upstairs bedrooms. The cleanliness of the property could have been better and the main heating is by a wood-burning stove which, of course, has to be cleaned out after use and the remainder of the equipment is very basic. Having said all of that we had an enjoyable holiday and we I would recommend the the Royal Oak pub for meals.

A return visit After a very long time. Few changes, but those made are generally for the better. Lovely location, ideal for walking, and a bus stop very near to the cottage. Owner not on site, but easily contacted and very helpful. Wood burner seems a little fuel hungry, but electric heating very effective. Tip - Wi-fi and Mobile signal seem strongest near the lounge window (the walls are 2 feet thick!).

The cottage is in dire need of updating, kitchen and bathroom totally unsatisfactory. Heating was expensive but we needed it. Left 3 days early to save money on electric heating bill.
