The place itself is beautiful and so quiet a great place to relax and forget the world. The facilities are good especially the pool and it keeps the kids entertained for hours, as is the ping pong table in the games room. When we last visited the field behind the house and in front had been cut, so we could play games and the kids and dogs could run around, however this time the grass was about 3 feet high meaning we could not use it at all, which is a shame as there is not much point in having 5 acres if you can use it. The bushes and driveway to the cottage had also not been trimmed, meaning you scratch your car every time you come and go from the property and scrape the underneath of your car. No gas was supplied for the BBQ and on phoning the caretaker we were told sorry, but there was nothing they could do, not very helpful when you have brought tons of BBQ food to cook, so we ended up having to buy the throw away ones. To be honest the BBQ itself was also not very clean, so it might have been a good thing. No hammock outside like before, which was also a shame as we enjoyed that very much. Patio furniture is also in need of repair as some of the arms are loose and the table not very stable. The master bedroom mattress was the same as before, which we commented on 3 years ago, as it is very uncomfortable and has had a lot of wear, this really needs replacing. Overall the house is tidy, but needs some TLC to get it up to standard, especially for the price you are paying, the cleaning is also very poor. Curtains in the living room are dirty and dont fit properly, paint is flaking in the shower and the pool really needed a clean. Only two logs supplied for the fire which is pointless. Kitchen is small with not much worktop, would benefit from an additional unit on the back wall and really needs a larger fridge freezer when there is a large group, the current fridge also seems to be leaking. The pots and pans were not very clean. The Dishwasher filter is broken meaning it didn't clean very well and none of the kitchen knives are sharp. To be honest if these points were fixed I would have no hesitation in booking Beer Farm again as it is a lovely place and the kids and dogs love the freedom they have, but we will be looking at other places instead and keep an eye on the reviews.

We stayed here a few years ago, for two years running, although we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday, we knew it was not perfect, but this did not bother us in the slightest, However, returning this year the track to beer farm was so overgrown it damaged our cars, we even tried cutting the worst brambles back with scissors ourselves! Although the owners have spent money extending the property and the pool house with a sitting room, which is a very nice touch, it's a shame that attention has not been paid to the actual grounds. The field was so overgrown that the dogs could not see where they were going, so was not used much, and the woodland walk was totally unusable as it was so overgrown and full of barbed wire! Extremely dangerous! The games room was a disappointment as it was so dirty, that hasn't been cleaned for a long time, but we could deal with that, the biggest disappointment was the pool! It was cloudy and to be honest dirty! You could not see your knees let alone your feet! The car parking area is sharp gravel, which years ago I thought my dogs feet got cut because they were not used to pavement walking, but the dogs with us this year are, and we had to bandage their feet because they were cut to shreds! The BBQ was not used as it was thick mould, I know guests are supposed to clean this themselves after use, so shame on you!! But it should be checked and cleaned if needed. We were only at beerfarm for 5 days, and we are not fussy people and do not like complaining, we haven't even touched on the minor issues. We needed that break, and nothing was going to spoil our holiday!!!! Not even a terrific storm with power cut which set off the pool house alarm and no way to switch it off! We laughed and enjoyed, what else can you do?! Then to add insult to injury I had to fight for my security deposit! Would we recommend Beer farm? No, major maintenance is needed. Not worth the money. Such a shame as it has so much potential.

To start with we had a lovely family holiday we all enjoyed especially the dogs they loved the amount of freedom they had in the grounds which is completely secure for them they also enjoyed the runs in the field to back of the property. Ok so now to the niggles and negatives. The owners take £200 security deposit which fair enough but they should actually be paying us £200 to get the scratches out of our car from the overgrown bushes and trees and brambles down the long uneven dirt track that leads to the property, the grass growing in the middle of the dirt track so long it drags underneath the car and front bumper not good at all! The shower in the main bathroom was dreadful it was freezing cold even tho thermostat on it was the highest it would go and the pressure was a trickle! The bed in the master bedroom was uncomfortable the bed was too creaky the good bit about the bed was the size! The whole property is tired looking now it needs some TLC including the grounds there’s weeds and grass growing in the stones and paving slabs for instance which makes it look untidy. For the price we paid for the week was a lot of money we expected 5 star like our previous visit 5 years ago which is what brought us back to this property Sadly as much as we did enjoy our stay we won’t be returning we feel there is better properties out there that suit our needs better. The property is in a lovely location if you like peace and tranquility you definetly need a car as long drive to supermarkets and the beach if you want to take your dogs to the beach like we did. Would also recommend a torch as very very dark The added bonus about this property however was the swimming pool we all enjoyed that.

Beautiful location and pool amazing.. But let down by cleanliness. Curtains badly stained, highchair dirty, stains on carpet, floors filthy. Bath mat mouldy. Equipment in playroom broken couldn't use bike or crosstrainer. Our car now has several long scratches down the side of it as access road not maintained. Location and pool would draw us back if issues addressed

Wow, if you are looking for a bit of r & r this is the place for you. The setting is just perfect, the barns very comfortable & the pool is just the jewel in the crown. Due to the beautiful surroundings and literally being in the middle of nowhere expect to drive - but with both Somerset & Devon on your doorstep loads of sites, pubs and beautiful beaches within driving distance. We loved Beer Farm and will definitely be returning again.
