Very good accommodation with all the necessary equipment

We loved the cottage and it was perfect for completely escaping from everything. As it is in middle of nowhere but that is what we wanted in end. There is a couple of things that I wish was better, first the garden being enclosed, dogs are allowed but you could not let them outside in garden, without a lead on due to them escaping and it being a busy road. The signal for phone is nil, so was unable to phone anyone. And parking was very tight so once in you did not want to move car until you left. The cottage is beautiful and we wanted stay longer, so would recommend to anyone.

The only disadvantage in May was the lack of heating from the air heat pump and underfloor heating. Hot water was fine but it seemed that heating was set to 'off' as it was May. The owner should know that Cumbrian weather near Hadrian's Wall ignores the seasons. Sunny all week but with a strong cold wind round the exposed cottage. Main road position not ideal now that an opencast colliery has opened towards Alston with heavy lorry movements.

Great location a dn perfect for a quiet weekend away. Log burner was handy when the snow came! Would highly recommend

Beautiful cosy little cottage with everything you need for a relaxing and homely stay. Cottage is excellently equipped, warm and very clean. Lovely welcome gift on our arrival.

Wonderful cottage in a lovely village, pub a few minutes walk down road, highly recommended.

Excellent cottage. No problem in highly recommending it.

Lovely cottage and nicely renovated. Unfortunately the cottage was far too close to the busy and noisy road with HGVs and coaches passing most of the day. For that reason we wouldn't return.

A very well equipped and comfortable cottage. I've stayed there on two separate occasions now whilst working in the area and would definitely stay there again.

Nice place, very clean, well equipped, good value for money. Parking a little tight but can park right out side the front door. Found the under floor heating did need the multi-fuel fire as well as cold weather when I was there.

A fantastic break in this cute little cottage. We would definitely return again in the future. Lovely and thoughtful welcome pack, with chocolates from a local company. Everything you need to know is in the manual. The cottage was lovely, cosy and clean. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to make meals, unfortunately some of the kitchen equipment was dirty and needed to be washed before use. It was lovely using the log burning fire at night after being out during the day. There was a clothes horse to dry clothes on but it would be good to have a coat stand or a couple of hooks to hang coats. The cottage is right on the main road and it appears a lot of the cars do not respect the speed limit which is a shame. Some road noise but this did not disturb our sleep. The owners are very helpful and accommodating. We rang before we arrived and had the keys to get in after 5 minutes of arrival. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

Everything good couldn’t ask for better in a holiday cottage

    out of 10

Although a nice cottage that is marketed as dog friendly, there is no side gate so something to be wary of. There is a pub (not dog friendly) and a small shop with essentials but for anything more than that, it’s around a 4 mile journey to the nearest town. The cottage is right on the road side with heavy vehicles going past all day until around 7.30pm and was very noisy. Also, the air forced heat pump backs onto the bedroom wall from the outside which is quite noisy during the night.

Was a lovely cosey cottage, with amazing places to go walking close by that were very scenic! The dog loved it so much and the owners were very helpful
