We booked Blaithwaite stables for a surprise birthday celebration. There were 13 adults and 3 infants and the property was ideal for us all. The rooms were very spacious and clean, communal areas ample size for a party of 16. The grounds are beautiful. My only comments would be that the property is a bit far out from anything if you are looking to walk to local amenities. There are local shops and restaurants easily accessible by car.

Excellent location, and unusual to find a property with 8 double rooms with en suite toilet. Excellent large dining room and a separate fine sitting room, so perfect for a big party. The staff were very helpful and available. A well-equipped kitchen - a bit cramped when cooking for 15 people but not a problem. We were lucky with the weather and much appreciated the sitting areas outside where we had breakfast every morning. We also enjoyed the crazy golf. The showers in the four upstairs rooms did not work over the week when we were there. The staff tried to get this mended but it was not possible, over the Easter break, to get the spare part for the pump. We would have appreciated a small rebate for this inconvenience but were not offered one.

We had a lovely 4 night stay, to celebrate my 40th birthday with my family, in the beautifully converted Stables at Blaithwaite House. I’m a wheelchair user (paraplegic SCI - complete T12/L1) and the accommodation provides level access throughout with 2 ground floor bedrooms that have en suite wet rooms. These bathrooms have well sited grabrails (toilet and shower) but unfortunately the showers do not have flip down shower seats (though a patio chair was provided). The property was well furnished to suit a large group with 3 dining tables, lots of clean and well maintained sofas. The outdoor space was amazing with beautifully kept gardens, 2 children’s play areas, a games room (2 pool tables and 2 table tennis tables), crazy golf and lawn chess, so there’s plenty on site to keep you occupied. Amongst our group was 5 dogs and Blaithwaite’s owners were happy to accommodate them. I would recommend staying at Blaithwaite Stables and found the owners to be helpful and friendly.

It was very clean, warm and lots of hot water. There was plenty of space and lovely bedrooms. The only criticism was the lack of cooking dishes, utensils etc that made it very difficult to cook a proper dinner for a large amount of people.
