Threlkeld is steeped in history with its church dating back to 1573 and its two pubs back to 1688.The pubs serve good food and real ale and are only a few minutes walk from the cottage. Blease Cottage is an ideal location to enjoy the peaceful countryside with its many walks from the door as well as golf and cycling opportunities. There is walking from the cottage to suit all a level railway path into Keswick walks on the fells around the village and more challenging walks up onto Blencathra and Skiddaw. The village welcomes holiday makers and has a good bus service to Keswick and Penrith. Shop 4 miles pub and restaurant 330 yards. Have used this cottage 6 or 7 times. It is perfect for me as I come on my own and feels very comfortable. It has everything you need for cooking your own food but there are 2 pubs in the village if you want to eat out.

Nice cottage, the only problems were the outside PIR light was not working making it dangerous at night negotiating the steps to the front door and the central heating went off at 7.00 pm, not good in November.

Very well equipped and spotlessly clean cottage. Great location. We had a great time.

Blease Cottage is very happily situated in Threlkeld at the foot of Blencathra. It was fully equipped, including even trekking poles. Very comfortable and a great place to explore the Lakes. Local amenities are a bit lacking in terms of shops but there are 2 pubs in the village, and one further away in Scales. The nearest pub, the Horse and Farrier, does standard but good pub food. There is an excellent coffee shop in the village hall at the bottom of the road with great views of Clough Head. If you don't drive (we don't) there is an hourly bus service to Keswick which goes on to Workington via Cockermouth. We got a weekly explorer for £29 which is good value as local buses are pricey (by London standards). The local disused railway line walk to Keswick is now totally closed until December 2020 for maintenance, which is a shame but plenty of local walks. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. We will return

The location is stunning but the weather could have been better. A local shop would have been useful and whilst recycling has to be applauded it would be helpful if someone emptied the amenities

Cottage is very small and has no back garden; could be a bit claustrophobic if you were stuck inside with poor weather. There is nowhere to store larger items like bikes, top boxes, pushchairs etc. or to dry wet kit. The car parking space is really only suitable for smaller cars. I found the beds uncomfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, everything was in good order and clean and as an old property it has a certain character. The visitors book indicated some people has stayed there several times. Not much in Threkeld so you have to go to Keswick to shop. Overall just not my cup of tea.

A lovely wel- equipped cottage. Threlkeld is a delightful location, handy for Keswick and the Northern Lakes.
