For rainy days there is a selection of games puzzles and books. Glass topped dining table and four chairs. \n\nKitchen \nWith dishwasher fridge freezer ceramic hob fan oven microwave and washerdryer. \n\nBedroom 1 \nWith king size bed TV and generous fitted wardrobe. \n\nBedroom 2 \nWith double bed TV and fitted wardrobe. \n\nBathroom \nWith bath powerful shower hand basin and WC.\n\n \n\n \n\n \n\nAll electric bed linen towels and Wi-Fi included. Cot and highchair available.\n\n Lawned area is shared between four apartments. Parking for 1 car. A sofa bed is available for alternative sleeping arrangements but own linen must be provided. Visit England 4 Star.\n\n Relax in this sunny open plan apartment with magnificent views south west over rooftops to Lake Windermere a mere 400 yards away. Set in a quiet location but only a very short walk from the centre of Bowness with shops pubs and eating places to suit all tastes. Hire a rowing boat or a tennis court try pitch-and-putt golf or take a trip on a lake steamer. Or if you want to go further afield the mountains and fells are only a short drive away. The apartment will be warm and welcoming when you return with efficient electric heating piping hot water and comfortable high quality furnishings chosen with care by the owners.     Our fifth time at Bowness Oaks and better than ever. Very central in Bowness and no need for the car although as others have commented, steep bank up from the Main Street to get to the flat but not an issue unless mobility is a problem. Think flat has been decorated since we last visited and everything clean and tidy. Ample hot water for the 4 of us (using the boost control on the hot water system) and storage heaters very efficient and kept the flat warm and cosy during the frosty weather while we were staying. Very quiet and didn’t hear any noise, even though 2 of the other flats in this block of 4 were occupied while we were there. Distant views of the lake over the roof tops of Bowness. Plenty of places to eat and drink in the town and all very quiet ( not Saturday ) during the week we were there. Lovely place to stay for a very comfortable off peak week in the lakes.

    Starting with the positives. 1. The location is very good. The town, its attractions and amenities are within a few minutes walking distance. Other reviewers have mentioned the steep incline from the town to the apartment when walking. It may pose problems for some guests but it certainly was not an issue for us. 2. Private parking at the rear of the premises. A huge plus. 3. The kingsize bed was surprisingly good and afforded a good nights sleep. 4. The apartment was well stocked with kitchen equipment, crockery and utensils. 5. Wifi, dish washer, washing machine and dryer all provided. The Negatives. 1. Having to collect and return the keys to the holiday office in Windermere is positively medieval. The office is situated on a busy main road with parking restrictions unless you are lucky enough to get a space in the limited waited bays nearby - best of luck! There is a key safe unit outside the apartment at the rear of the premises for the flat and why this can't be used by guests is a complete mystery. We do self catering regularly and the vast majority of accommodations have a key safe that precludes the necessity of having to get keys from the holiday office. The holiday company/owners simply notify guests before they arrive of the key code number. 2. We had an issue with cleanliness on arrival. We spent a good number of hours putting things right, effectively doing a full "spring clean". We reported the matter to the holiday company and we are happy to report that they were very good in dealing with our complaint which was resolved to our satisfaction. 3. The shower supply of hot water is excellent - for about 5 minutes- and then goes cold. Using the boost control on the heater unit is quite useless. The hot water is generated overnight but is wholly inadequate in our opinion for two adults, never mind four, to bathe in the morning. The hot water supply does not last as claimed in the information book. A good quality electric shower would solve the problem thereby ensuring constant hot water for showering without a time limit. 4. One needs to be a bodybuilder to lift the vacuum cleaner. It stinks and is well past its sell by date. 5. The crockery is stored in an open unit with dishes literally at floor level thereby susceptible to any dust or other nasties lurking at floor level. This arrangement needs a re-think. Summary We would stay at Bowness Oaks again and despite our negative observations and initial difficulties we did enjoy the break. The apartment did have a certain appeal to be honest and readers may think we are being particularly picky but given the tariffs charged at this accommodation one does expect a certain standard. We offer this appraisal in a constructive manner and hope that our comments are excepted in the good faith intended.

    Bowness Oaks was well equipped, comfortable and well presented. The location was central with a view of Lake Windermere BUT up a steep incline which proved too much for us oldies. Walking up from the pier was not an option so we had to use the car which defeated the object of being central. Parking was then impossible to find.

    A lovely quiet apartment with a fantastic lake view. Could have sat all day looking at the view! The location is a few steps away from the Main Street, so excellent. The allocated parking space was very welcomed. Perfect having two bedrooms so two friends can have one each. Would recommend and if stayed in Bowness again would certainly stay here.

    Excellent location. Very well maintained cottage. In good situation for local shops and very quiet. Hope to return soon. A suggestion ( not a complaint ).. a summer duvet would be good as bedrooms got very hot without heating on. All appliances and furnishings are top quality
