Set on the bank of the Prosen Waters the peaceful garden is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful views and sounds of nature.\n\nAt the heart of Glenprosen one of the renowned ‘Glens of Angus’ lies the Balnaboth Estate on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park 6000 acres of peaceful and secluded land surrounding 16th-century Balnaboth House. With six other holiday cottages sharing the site each offer a unique and magical holiday retreat indeed the creator of Peter Pan himself Sir James Barrie was born in nearby Kirriemuir and holidayed here.\n\nThese cottages were once occupied by shepherds gardeners and staff of the Ogilvy family when this was a traditional Victorian sporting estate. Red squirrels play in the trees otters frequent the burns and deer graze all around. Because of the varied scenery from beech woods to forest pasture to heather moor mountain streams to river pools the area enjoys a spectacular range of wildlife including species largely extinct elsewhere in Britain such as black game and ptarmigan.\n\nMagnificent walking bird-watching mountain biking and in season cross-country skiing abound on the estate and further afield downhill skiing at Glenshee 25 miles away. Fishing is available on a 5-mile stretch of the River Prosen and there are 20 golf courses within an hours’ drive. Enjoy the seclusion of this beautiful glen peaceful relaxing scenic yet just a few minutes’ drive from bustling market towns and busy fishing harbours which hug the Angus coastline as well as from the city of Dundee which offers many attractions for all the family. The exciting Dundee Contemporary Arts is a stunningly-designed centre which incorporates galleries a print studio and two art-cinema screens while the Mills Observatory is Britain’s only full-time public observatory with a resident astronomer. Good road rail and air access to Angus provide easy access from all parts of the UK or international destinations. Shop pub and restaurant 9 miles. Had a lovely time and it was so peaceful. The fire was lite on arrival and had no problems. If your looking for a quiet spot with nature and value. Its a thumbs up from me.

This was a peaceful restive break in a super cottage that provided all we needed for the week. There was no phone signal so solitude was guaranteed. Plenty of outstanding scenery to enjoy with a wealth of wildlife to see and enjoy. Would recommend to anyone who wants to get away from it all.

Only disappointment was the shower stopped working on the day we were leaving.

It was a fine and beautiful place and area, the cottage was clean and cosy.

If you are looking for just the basics this cottage is perfect so relaxing and quite enjoyed every day there. PS no mice.

The cottage was over-run with nice

    out of 10

The bedding was damp and I would have expected a chopping board, more than 2 teaspoons, some type of scouring pad for cleaning the pots and at least 1 spare toilet roll, none of which was available. The furniture also had seen better days.
