Cae Ocyn (Ki Okin) is a 17th century granite built Welsh Farm House, with characteristically old features in the south of Anglesey on the B4421 at Llangaffo, 3½ miles from Gaerwen on the A5 and 5 miles from the A55 Holyhead - Bangor - Chester motorway. Accommodation is for 6 people and children are welcome. It lies at the end of a ¼ mile single track downwards sloping tarmac lane (the last 200 yards after the cattle grid being unmade) amidst grassland sheep fields, surrounded by oak, chestnut and hazel trees and having views across the valley of the river Cefni river. The car park turning circle has ample room for 4 cars. Backed by granite rock the house is in a very quiet and peaceful location and microclimate. On arrival, the smell of sheep or silage may occasionally be evident but, as the cottage is ’no smoking’ and ’no pets’ and solid fuel stove, fireplace and Aga are not in use, there should be no unpleasant odours inside the cottage. It is a perfect location for summer beach holidays and relaxing winter escapes. Wildlife abounds all around the cottage with frequent visitors to the garden being red squirrels, tawny and barn owls and great spotted woodpeckers. Show more
Cae Ocyn lies close to glorious sandy beaches and many interesting family visitor attractions, including Anglesey’s Sea Zoo, Plas Newydd, Beaumaris with its castle, Victorian courthouse and jail, a butterfly farm and there are even opportunities to spot puffins or enjoy a spot of sea fishing. Superb coastal walking, golf and horse riding can all be found close by. The Snowdonia National Park with its numerous outdoor activities and stunning mountain scenery is within easy reach.
