Please note There is a fenced river adjacent to the garden and there are 12 steps down to the garden from the private lane.\n Located just metres from the beautiful Camel Trail this former threshing barn now converted to stylish holiday accommodation provides the ideal base to relax and enjoy the county of Cornwall. Lying in a peaceful rural setting with the Camel River running past the garden Chapel Barn with its own riverside garden is a must for both couples and families. The garden and stretch of the river are on a Site of Special Scientific Interest and therefore is mostly left as natural as possible to promote and encourage wildlife.\n\nTravelling west from the barn will first bring you to Wadebridge a delightful market town with all you need including bike hire a cinema supermarkets and many local craft and gift shops. While on route to Wadebridge the Camel Trail passes the Camel Valley Vineyard a family run business that produces award winning wines. Continuing along the trail from Wadebridge the views open up across the amazing Camel Estuary until you reach the coastal town of Padstow with its working harbour narrow streets and Rick Stein’s seafood restaurant.\n\nThe ancient town of Bodmin has many attractions including the Bodmin and Welford Steam Railway which leaves the old town station and chugs down the valley to the mainline branch what a way to tour the county. The ancient Bodmin Jail is also well worth visiting for a little bit of ghoulish history. The surrounding Bodmin Moor offers a great escape from the norm where you can find Jamaica Inn immortalised in Daphne Du Maurier’s book of the same name. The stunning National Trust property of Lanhydrock House is close by and has many activities throughout the year. You may wish to explore coastal Cornwall and Chapel Barn is equidistant from both the dramatic north coast and the sub tropical south coast both with very different scenery. The beaches of the north and the villages of Port Isaac home to the TV series ’Doc Martin’ and Polzeath have many attractions including many world class golf courses great local pubs and celebrity chefs including Nathan Outlaw and Rick Stein. The surfing town of Newquay Watergate Bay and the sea faring and literary town of Fowey all offer superb and different days while enjoying your stay in Chapel Barn. The popular Eden Project lies just 10 miles away. Beach 10 miles. Shop ½ mile pub and restaurant 300 yards. \n " https://img.chooseacottage.co.uk/Property/134/840/1343155.jpg UKC1608

We stayed at Chapel Barn in late November, so definitely 'out of season'. You never know what to expect at this time of year, but we couldn't have been more delighted! Chapel Barn is so well-equipped, beautifully decorated and toasty warm - ideal retreat from the wet and windy weather! The owners, Dave and Laura were so welcoming, providing us with bread, milk, scones, jam and the all-essential clotted cream to get our Cornish holiday off to a great start. The location of the Barn is very convenient for the town of Bodmin and all the shops etc. as well as having a good local pub which serves an excellent carvery every day, just opposite. There is a lovely walk adjacent to the Camel river, literally on the doorstep [part of the Camel Trail route]. Would definitely recommend Chapel Barn and may very well be going back in the better weather...

Owners very helpful. We enjoyed our stay. Parking a little awkward but alternatives were offered. We couldn’t locate an info. book on arrival, so weren’t sure about things like when to put out rubbish, although this was done for us on week 2.
